I have PHotoshop 7.0, but don't really know my way around it yet, I'm embarassed to say. I REALLY NEED to get a good video or online tutorial going and just learn it. In the meantime, I have a little project I'm working on, and need some help, please. I have a beautiful Christmast themed .jpg of christmas ornaments. It's sort of an animated picture and not an actual photograph. Here's all I need to do. It's a flyer for a Christmas party. I need to add text on top of the picture from top to bottom. How do i add text on top of the image? This may be the easiest question you get all year, but it's a little baffling to me.
I appreciate any help.
Many thanks.

Tom B.

What do you mean by animated .jpg? ... You mean it's drawn? Because it can't be animated

If you want to do something like this: (#-s represent the image)

TEXT
####

####

...then all you need to do is Edit menu -> canvas size -> change the height to bigger and select the arrow that points down

v
press "ok"

After that just use the text tool to add text to the new blank area.

Or if you don't need to make the actual image bigger you can:
Make a new layer.
Select the Text tool and click on the image
Type your text.
Select the Move tool and position the text to be where you want it.
Go to Layers>Flatten image
Save.

If mine or Aurthurio's suggestions don't help, post back perhaps with the image or link to it. There are hundreds of tutorials out there for adding text to images if you do a search. Here is just one of them with text running horizontally as well as vertically.

Thanks. Sorry about that. When I said "animated", I meant it wasn't an actual photograph.

Thank you. I really appreciate all the good help. I was under a big time deadline on that thing, and actually had to have it done today, I ended up going in to Word and just making the Christmas Party flyer from total scratch. It came out pretty good, but I'm kinda pissed that I wasn't able to incorporate that great image into the flyer. Now that I have your info, I'm going to attempt to make it anyway.
I will post back and let you know how it turned out.
I know how to add an attachment in an email or a forum post, but not quite figuring out how to add my image as an attachment on this forum? Just paste it in or what? Oh well.

Thanks again.

Check out the UBB code to the left of the reply box.
You will need to have your photo or image uploaded to your own web space or to one such as Photobucket or flickr then you add an image here by using the UBB code in this way

quote:

[ img ]http://the url of your image [/img] (Just remove the spaces in front and behind the [ img ] like this [img]
