Gosh, there are only a few things in life that are constant. Doc Ozone and his Asylum is one of them. It's like going back to your childhood town after you have become an adult.

I never did post much here over the years but I read and learned a lot. Doc's tutorials (pre Asylum) got me started during College. I put it all to good use...

Check out http://flowzit.com

Nothing fancy design wise, but let me know what you think.

If you find it useful and sign-up for it, send me an Email via the board and I'll hook you up with a free bronze account for life. Just to show my appreciation to the faceless souls who guided my education.

Hm, I have to admit I don't remember your nickname... but anyway, just signed up have some very short comments already:

- the app seems to be mixing some localized strings into the otherwise English page. I wouldn't consider that bad in itself of course, it's just that there are also problems with the character set / UTF8 and non-acsii characters like my German umlauts (äöü...) are not displayed quite as they should.

- the login page keeps nagging me that my browser is not supported even though the site looks good and works pretty well in Opera.
At the very least it would be nice to have that message not appear as a JS alert each and every time I visit

so long...

I'd be surprised if you did. I haven't even looked at the board in at least two years. The last time I came by, ozones.com didn't work in Firefox.

I will definitely remove the alert box. I hate those things too. It's one of those things things that made it over from early development. As for Opera support, it is definitely a priority. Unfortunately, there are a few places were it is difficult to get a few javascript bits to work right. I've always been of a mind to not push browsers on people. Unless you use IE 6

The internationalization is lagging behind. I need to work on that. :/ I'm going to have to dig, I thought the pages and tables were being set as UTF-8. Guess not...

Thanks for the feedback! (I upped your account too)

The site looks fine.

Some sort of color or background change on hover of the links would be nice.

Here's a couple of observation & suggestions:

  • Unless you use it to create some sort of drop shadow or something, IMG don't need to be warpped in a DIV.
  • The navigation should be done using the classic UL > LI > A markup instead of a soup of DIV > SPAN.link > A.
  • IMO things like " Or if you are ready to get started, you can try a free or paid plan now by signing up " don't belong in an H3, but in a P.
  • I think the HR doesn't belong in #footnote but before it.
  • Loose the &nbsp; and use padding or margin already.
  • The <p>&nbsp;</p> at the end of #content is meh.
  • There's quite a lot of DIV soup to make the rounded corners. Since you use a fixed layout, I suggest to get rid of the tag soup and use background images appropriately to achieve the exact same result with a much leaner markup.

reisio: I know. I don't normally think of it like that. But did consider that thought in the beginning. For that reaction I instead offer up an alternative. I imagine the zit is actually spewing forth digital bits of beautiful artwork for the recipients to mop up with love.

poi: Wow, thanks for that. Only one of those do I have an excuse for. Thanks for taking the time to dig so deep. I take your suggestions to heart. It definitely helps!
