Hello there, gents =)

I'm here, trying to help a friend.

He and his friend put together an ISP and it got pretty good raves and rates, on a national level.

But at a certain point, the bills and billing, (actually more the billing than the bills, given the bad finance infrastructure they put together) started piling up, and instead of doing his loved coding, he was just billing and answering emails.

But now he has a bigger problem on hands.

From what I'm told, he more or less recently changed his server to another country, for cost effectiveness.

This new country has stricter laws on what is spam sending.

What happens is that his server is actually being used for spam sending, because of being cheap, and he still has yet to implement a system to prevent the spamming from taking place.

Every time one of this ~1?/month or so accounts starts sending spam, they shutdown his server, and he has to pay a fee. He bans the account, but since he actually accepts anonymous payments from fictitious names, these accounts keep popping up.

The problem with this is the name servers, he has the usual? two - ns1.host.com and ns2.host.com - nameservers.

I didn't understand well how these two are actually configured, if they are running on another machine or whatnot, and if on another country, but i understood the following from what he told me:

every time something's up with the server, it disappears from the net, 'cause the nameservers take 2 days do propagate the new address.

What suggestions do you have for this? Any alternatives? I'm running a search for info while writing this, and would really appreciate your input.

I'm not one of the unhappy costumers, but there are actually thousands of them, i'm afraid.

Thanx in advanced =)

ok, first he can tune down the time to live of his nameserver replies.

Otherwise, he really shouldn't offer e-mail, or very limited e-mail (in number of messages / day)
on those accounts. Period.
