Hi there everyone! I am looking to make a blog page for my own website. I'm not looking to insert a free blog widget or link one to my site, i would like to create it with html, etc from scratch.

Trying a google search for create blog website anywhere on the internet is a nightmare. Just about everyone is trying to give you their free blog spots to make your own - so you can understand why, i, who am usually brilliant at finding this info - am really stuck!!

Pls help with code if anyone knows.

i would advise you to start with learning the basics of web development. Select a language your server supports (probably PHP) and a database Management System (most certainly MySql).

If you are having problems with either of these, feel free to check back and ask. I am sure the inmates will be happy to help.

p. S. Do not start with writing a blog, start with a simple "Hello World" application and gradually work your way up.

I'm wondering why your reply didn't show in my email, bummer!!! I know HTML, CSS, alot of JavaScript (but it's hard), Jquery (easy) and i've sussed PHP. It would be easy for me to learn PHP and MySQL basics in a few days ... so that's all good.

My first question, actually, before i reallys start is ...

Is it as simple as uploading via FTP a .php page to my hosts server in order for the blog page to run? or is there some gimmicky thing that i need to iron out with the hosts server? I read somewhere, and i'm so not sure in what context, that there are certain things you can do that can get you booted off your hosts server (i don't want that!).

Do i need to ask my hosts what coding languages they allow on their server?

Also, this will be a commercial blog that supports my business that i run on my own website: which is already up n running. I just want a simple blog page to be able to add entries of interesting info, and possibly customer feedback, etc; in order to network and keep business doing well.

I 'm telling you lots of information so that you can decide the best way for me to go about this, and your help so far is greatly appreciated!

No If PHP is set up on your Host, no further installation is needed. You will have to set up a DB though. So you will somehow have to contact your Provieder on how you can do that (Most offer a web-interface).
I suggest you go through the FAQ : http://www.ozoneasylum.com/4655
