Dear people

I start to study at polytech tomorrow. I am studying to be a web desiner. I'd like to get advices as much as I can to be good designer.

What I want is to make sure I am on the right track.

First of all, I mainly study (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Photoshop and Flash at the moment. I have done tutorial on www.w3schools.com for HTML, CSS and JavaScript. And www.traingtools.com for Flash. And www.gurusnetwork.com for Photoshop. I haven?t done any server side scripting yet.

I am feeling more confident of both HTML and CSS than before. But I know just basic staff. I am making my home page using those knowledge. I am handcoding to make sure I understand them.

And I am practicing drawing graphics through Gurusnetwork. I just love it. But I wonder if it is right way to study. Sometimes tutorial seems to me pretty tough on me.

I think there will be a way to be like you, guys. Probably creating web site myself, trying hard and solving problem. Is that what you recommend?

I am going to find good tutorial for PHP. Then I will study it.

Well, any comment and advices are appreciated. Anyway, I am really happy and honor of being on this site.

Thank you.

Hiroki Kozai

By far the best resource you will find for learning PHP is the PHP manual itself ( http://www.php.net ). You'll also need a server so you can check if your PHP scripts work, so I suggest what I use, PHPDev4 ( http://www.firepages.com.au/phpdev4.htm ). This will install Apache, MySQL and PHP on your computer. On testing we have the following item in the .

Enjoy Hiroki. Drop in over to Server-Side Scripting for all your PHP scripting questions.

Do you know what I love about tutorials?
They start simple, they teach you a technique, they have pretty pictures showing step by step what you should do and, at the final step, the final picture, what it's expected that you end up with.
And then, below this final picture, at the very end of the tutorial, the author can't resist to show up how smarter than his/her own tutorial he/she is, and then he/she posts another picture, much more beautiful and detailed and full of other technique than that last one of the tutorial, and he/she says: "with a little more work, using this tutorial, you can get this..."
I love it.
