ImageReady, which comes with recent versions of Photoshop. That's going to be 85% of the answers you get here; anyone want to chime in with the rest? I know there are a few good free tools out there, I just never had any reason to find out what they are.

Yes PSP is still used to ship with Animation Shop. It is still here in the 7.04 version. This is the GIF animation tool I use; it is very good to my point of view and I never noticed any flaw in it.

Coffee Cup Gif Animator is really good. I tried out the demo. I think it only costs $30.00USD

Would go for Animation Shop, you even could use old (ancient) .fli and .flc files (remember 3D animations under dos?) and convert them to animated gif.

Yannah: Which one are you refering to?

PSP (which ships with Animation Shop allegedly) can be downloaded from:
www.jasc.com/download_4.asp?

And any UK residents should note that PSP5 is free on the front of .net magazine this month. In fact you can get PSP3 for free from the above link!! I only started using it with PSP4 so I'm not sure if it is any good.

Hey Emps beat me...

<edit>Emps: PSP is usable from version 5 and higher IMHO the 3 version is still a lot liike the old picture converter it once was but with some photo/picture editing functions added. When jasc added the slicing tools in 6 it realy got intresting. Does PS have those already in 7? in PS5.5 i still need an plugin for easy slicing...<edit-off>

Photoshop 5.5 came with ImageReady 2.0, which could slice things like a samurai. Since then, each version of Photoshop has been paired with the slice-tastic ImageReady.

TP i know that, the thing is i need an extern program for doing slices. PSP can do it in one program.
But i don't bother another PS is better than PSP thread. So don't go that way.

Yeah but....you don't need image ready to slice up your Photoshop image anyway...guides and the marquee tool work just fine and dandy =)

Nah, Moon Shadow: He means the Marquee Tool in PhotoShop.

RTFM

It's the draggable selection tool. In this case, the Rectangular Marquee Tool. It's top left on your toolbar in PS.

Your sig doesn't match very well the Asylum layout and colors.
If you could just make that background white...
