Yeah, when I get bored I harass Emperor on ICQ as well.

It's great fun.

Of course, when Emperor gets bored, he seems to harass my girlfriend on ICQ......

hm...

Let me just address this -
"it only took about an hour"

whoa....even worse. I figured maybe a few minutes.

Damn, man, find something to do!!

{{ edit

side note - now, michael certainly looks awful funny in a dress. it's quite hard to say that he looks *good* in one!

as a further side note - when I was a teenager, I used to wear a wraparound skirt...kind of as a 'shock vlaue' kind of thing. I wasn't dressing as a woman, I was simply throwing a skirt on...to make some kind of a point (what the hell was that point now??).

So...you gotta picture the total image....5'11'', only about 120 lbs, some sort of punk t-shirt, multicolord 70's wrap-around skirt, orange and purple chuck taylors (or black chineese slippers), and a two-foot tall mohawk. Yes, two feet tall (took a lot of elmers glue and aqua-net to get that baby upright, let me tell ya)

So anyway...hope that helps add some relevance to this thread.....

It would of only taken a few minutes, but I wanted to make sure all the links worked. I don't know why, now that I look back on it. Hum. I am sort of tired, it reminds me of chocolate donuts.

DL, what kind of punk were you into..Clash sort of stuff, or perhaps Rudimentary Peni, or more into the Operation Ivy style, or perhaps Dead Kennedy's/Black Flag, or maybe hardcore like Minor Threat.....there's tons of different kinds. Just curious, ya know yo'

Ooh... are we trading cross-dressing stories? Just want to check before I go and embarrass myself again... or is it too late for that?

And I'm not sure Michael looks good in a dress either. In fact, that sig kind of scared me the first time I saw it. But I've always said that people should be free to express themselves (well, I haven't actually always said that, but it's the kind of thing I would like to imagine myself saying on a fairly regular basis).

(For the record, I look good in a dress... not sure if I have any pictures left to prove it, though...)

Hmm... harassing Emps on Q seems to be a popular pasttime around here--I do it too! No wonder the poor guy never sleeps!

exactly.

Hum, Shelter. Haven't heard that name in a while, I might have to get some of their songs from Kazza.
Lemonheads were really good, the CD with Mrs. Robinson, loved it. And old Bostones, can't beat it.

I don't know if you like Schreeching Weasel style stuff, but there is a new band, well new within the last like 5 years, called Digger who is really good, and also Dillinger 4 is excelent.

{Edit - Petskull...I thought I was alone on the Ramones thing.}

The Dead Kenndys rule.

Now here is a question - they are touring and coming to a town near me soon:
www.deadkennedys.com/tour.htm

But my understanding was that Jello Biafra wasn't with this incarnation of the band and the band members page doesn't help:
www.deadkennedys.com/members.htm

and basically without him I'm not really interested - I'd rather see a tribute band (I came up with the idea of the Led Kennedys who did Led Zeppelin and Dead Kennedys covers).

Ahhhhhhhhhh this goes some way to explaining things:

GN - you do have too much free time at work sometimes!

AFAIK, Fugazi and Minor Threat were practically the same band, maybe a different configuration. I'll have to go back and check the ol' casette tapes... ('cept I do have Repeater/3 Songs on CD...) Very good stuff! I was really into Black Flag for a while, and the Misfits... The Dead Kennedys ROCK!

But I've always had very eclectic tastes as far as music is concerned. If it sounds good, I'll listen to it.

I had some roommates when I was in college who decided one night dress up and get a pizza delivered, just to see what reaction the pizza-guy would have to it. They answered the phone with Mark in a skirt and leather vest, with a collar and leash on, and his girlfriend behind him dressed in dominatrix fashion, of course, holding the leash... Pizza guy was predictibly rattled. A jolly chuckle was had by all! *sigh* the early college days...

Guy Pica..whatver, the other Fugazi singer was in a good band called Rites of Spring, they have some good songs.

Hardcore = punk == False
Hardcore = punk in overdrive == might be true

Sorry to say this i have been working with hardcore and punk bands for years as a sound engineer and i tell you they are related but not the same. Punk is with more melody and harmonics, hardcore is faster and when possible louder. (Boy those guys did realy stress my 10 KiloWatt amplifiers...) Ofcourse there is an overlap and today's punk is much faster then in the 70's. But it's no way the same.
