Hello,

In my country, It is hard to find new adventures / extreme games....
Once every year they host a 4 days extreme games (If I may call them extreme) ...
anyway, Bungee jumping was one of these games...

I tried it for the first time of my life...At ~70meters+
I'll share my exprience, hoping that someone else will share his about extereme experiences.

As we were being lifted up (me and the supervisor) I was feeling more afraid and more like senseless and weak.
We reached the point of jump and was signaled to jump....
Looking around me, down, up, and I was feeling more and more weak...They started counting for me from down below...
3..2..1...Jump! ...They did that couple of times but I still didn't dare to do it!
Even though you are secure and you won't get hurt, as for a first timer you wouldn't trust the rope in your legs...So for me it was a decision to jump below w/o knowing what will happen next!
My friends were down watching for me, and If I don't jump I'll be a coward (I was the first among them to take the jump) and a bad example.....
I made myself loose balance and w/ an unvoluntary manner I felt down....I was shocked when I first fell down, I couldn't utter a sound until the first bounce, 2nd bounce, 3rd bounce and then I could finally relax myself and enjoy the feeling...

I don't know if I dare to do it again....

I am also looking forward for other games to get hosted here, like for example parachute jumping and stuff like that.

lallous: Hey, long time no see! I've never been bungee jumping myself, nor have I been parachuting, but these are definitely things I want to do. I suppose it's really easy to say these things while sitting here in front of my computer, but to actually jump off of a tower must be another story. Hopefully someday I'll be able to share my experience with you.

I highly recomend parachuting in total darkness...for the ultimate kick. Of course, I'm not sure if anyone outside of the military is offering it...hehe...

thank you ws, but there sure are some more pleasant ways to commit suicide.

reminds me of a free fall tower... only there, you don't have a choice, not to jump when you're up.
You know it's gonna go down... and the let you sit there for what seems to be an eternity...
of course, it was only 50 meters, I believe. I did it three times in a row and never could convince myself again to do it...

I've been paragliding before. Which is far less an extreme experience, I imagine, than parachuting or any other freefall type activity. It was more pleasant than anything. What you really wanna look into is base jumping. A friend lent me a Salomon promo DVD with some on, and it was so beautiful to watch, this guy stand on the top of a cliff in some exotic mountain range and leap...

Personally I'm quite seriously into riding BMX, but that's not half as much adrenalin-based as bungee jumping etc. I'd liken it more to a martial art actually.

This brings to mind an exchange I've always wanted to work into a story or something, and haven't had a chance to...

mother: If all your friends jumped off a cliff, would you jump too?
son: (exasperated sigh) It's called BASE jumping, mom.

Ice baby, Ice...... Rock is good too, these days even concrete and plastic will do. Anything vertical or beyond is where life begins. I admitt it- I'm addicted and probably always will be.

Each medium has it's virtues:

Ice-
You are in another world. A silent crystal cathedral. At first as you move upward, you feel like an intruder, an invader in a frozen vertical world to beautiful to allow human presence. But somewhere, usually after the halfway point of the first pitch, as you hang from a few centimeters of steel embedded in ice that may or may not be there for long, as your heart pounds and the only thing that matters is your continued ascent..... you realize that you are not an invader, that maybe you are where you truely belong.

Rock-
Crack climbs, face climbs, and when all else fails, aid climbs. Where there's a wall, there's a way. There is nothing quite like the feel of the sun warmed granite beneath your fingertips, as you slowly shift your weight on to the next footplacement and continue the flowing dance straight up- to the top of the world. The laws of physics become part of you as you apply the counterpressure needed to stem a chimney or layback off of a flake. Then those laws are suspended as you go beyond vertical and pull a roof with a series of heel and toe hooks...

gym climbing-
Where else can you be hanging upside-down 40 feet off the ground , listening to Nine Inch Nails, with out anyone thinking you are a freak?

Hang-glideing, parachuting, and the like, have never really appealed to me. Falling has always been what I was trying to avoid.......
