Holy shit, that actually worked!

I'm undecided if that's horribly clever or incredibly stupid....

....... yep ... that's MS products for ya... ;-). The theinquirer.org named it the "Internet Explorer's dumbest bug" and it is.

But it's really just the "input type? that makes IE crash, as the ?crash? text can be anything you want. But as the inquirer says, "anything else that uses shlwapi.dll suffers the same fate".

So I wonder how long it will take MS to fix this bug?.....

Just a rant.... no wonder there is mass worms, virus, bugs ect. Because of MS and people not really wanting to download about 200megs of critical updates to patch their OS. I re-installed win2k this week, went to windows update and there was 35 critical updates. It's just so silly and I still can't get over how MS has gotten away with making shoddy products for so many years, just amazes me.

lol

I remember there was a similar bug under Win 98. You just had to launch 'launch -> execute' pannel, and type (if my memory is correct) "c:\windows\con\con\whateveryouwant". And you had a blue screen !

To Win 98 users, if you want to crash your computer (and provided I remembered the right sentence), type "c:\windows\con\con\The Ozone Asylum has you".

That's funny to notice that "con" means in French "stupid" (in a slang way)

Amazing...
That's why I love MS products, you can always expect some surprises with them.

but. it's interesting to note that

code:
<html>
<form>
<input type>
</form>
</html>

or

code:
<html>
<form>
<input type whatever>
</form>
</html>

will crash IE as well... so the "bug" isnt in the "crash" type

not inside <body> tags.
