Heyas all, came acrross this.. All Flash.. Site
http://www.ptr.com.au/

I was thinking to myself is there any point at all having this a whole flash site, i mean chances are it cost the client more than a html site will css etc would have.

Also one thing i found interesting was that every flash link went to a new html page which loaded another flash file, i could see that useful for being able to bookmark different sections but i dunno, is it a good way to do it, and does it help with search engine indexing at all? The search engines still wont follow the flash buttons through to the other pages i dont think but i could be wrong..

H][RO: Its possibly unwise not to offer a HTML alternative but it depends on what there aims were - if they wanted a fancy site to show off their goodies then they got it. If they wanted somethingaccessible to all and search engine friendly then they might not

It's probably not valid but I bet google would follow them.

Still, they kinda forgot to put in any meta tags for keywords or a description which is a bit strange.

Also, using seperate HTML pages for each page means that the back & forward buttons of your browser will still work.

Yeh i can see some advantages in what they have done with separate html's, but from what i can see you could do the entire site in html anyhow, its not really interactive or anything like that - was just trying to make sure i wasnt missing some wonderful plot :P.

That is interesting dracm i suppose altavista etc will disregard it completely then maybe, search engines follow links through like that? I guess they probably would hmm.. I'm still unsure how search engines work with flash =( i guess it has alot to do with how the flash is done as well, but anyhow =).

I think they would have benefited more from html, some annoying things like stuff that happens when you move over the picture. I guess some people would find it flashy but considering half of the visitors would miss it anyhow i guess isnt something they thought about hehe.

Thanks for the input all =).
