Lately when i look for good resources about webdesign i found alot off outdated stuff.
I realy like to warn people about these sites. For instance i found a site which is still learning that the 'layer' tag is good too use. There are also sites who learn the use off proprietary tags, or old non compliant standards any more.

I realy do think that people who are learning the web languages today should not bother with old standards or proprietary stuff. Instead they should learn to do it the right way at once. Why should you learn designing the web the wrong way with a lot of effort. And then do more effort to learn it the right way?
This makes no sense to me.

But still there are lot off tutorials online teaching old stuff.
And thus teaching people outdated techniques and let them learn the wrong things.

Now here is what i want to do:
I like to make a list right here in the faq to tell people which resources are reliable and up to date.
But i don't want to start a war or insult people so i need to have good chararteristics to define what's outdated and what's not. Like these:

-Tutorials who learn you to use proprietary tags and code
-Tutorials who learn you techniques which have changed in the latest specifications
-Tutorials who teach depraciated tags, atributes etc.
-Tutorials based on DOM 0 (the Netscape and Internet Explorer DOM) techniques.

Now i have to questions
-Should there be an list about outdated resources?
-What do you consider as outdated?

Rinswind 2th: Its a good plan and in some ways that is already what the FAQ (and the GN links) is for - i.e. we filter out the outdated, poor quality, etc. material that someone might waste a lot of time searching through and point them towards the definititve resources on each topic. If you want to expand the tutorials section in the FAQ then feel free it should work nciely.

rinswind: w3schools.com and webpages that suck -- that is all I ever use.

Emps:
I will but i don't have much time to dig deep int to the faq. I will try to keep an eye on it though.
But still i am going to put a page up to mark outdated tutorials.

Wolfen:
Sorry i like to know about outdated tutorials and how to define them, not which resources you use
(this is not meant to be harsh, just to clarify things). I like to know about the stuff you don't use and why not.

Well, technically, by saying that those two resources are all she ever uses, she is telling you what resources she doesn't use...

I think there was a bit of miscommunication here. Those are resources that i use all the time when I get into a sticky spot.
