Hello,

Does it happen with you?
You grab a book and start reading (during the day) then in like 10 minutes you feel like sleeping!
You sleep and resume reading, you will feel sleepy again!

Weird!

Usually the books I read are more interesting than that

I mostly read what is of interest to me!

I don't get it...I think it has to do w/ glasses...I have the choice to read w/ or w/o glasses...

Sometimes w/ glasses I feel sleepy and other times w/o I feel sleepy!

It seems my colleagues at work share the same experience!

If I'm reading some dense subject matter, I tend to feel sleepy when my brain gets full... I have to stop reading for a while and absorb it, then go back to it later. Whether I'm wearing my glasses or contacts, it's the same.

But a ripping good story will keep me awake for days 'til I finish it!

I only fall asleep reading whn I'm already fatigued emotionally, mentally or physically.

However, a third of a bag of Doritos (Nacho Cheese Flavor) will always knock me right out within 20 minutes no matter what. They're like anesthesia to me.

I've managed to speed through 300-600 page programming and similar books, but I've never been able to read past the third or fourth page of a novel... yes .. I've never read a full novel , heh

brucew - MSG is the flavor enhancer used in Doritos nacho cheese flavor. (monosodium glutamate for those who don't know it...) In many folks, it has a tranquilizer effect. If you've ever eaten a spicey lunch, and then gone back to the office and felt like a zombi for the rest of the day, you've eaten it. I know many Asian food places use it, and Pizza Hut loads their sauce with it.
You might check for it in the ingredients of what you're eating and avoid it when you know you want to be awake.
