I tryed to setup a dual boot with Windows XP pro and Redhat Linux 9. I installed Windows XP first and then Redhat 9. Windows XP did not show up in the boot loader. I'm really new with Redhat. Every time i try to get my modem to work. I can't do it so i uninstall Redhat and install Windows XP. It's getting to be a pain in the ass by keep on uninstalling Redhat ever time i want to use Windows XP to connect to the internet. Can someone help me set up a dual boot the correct way? Where is the command line located at in the graphical mode? Do i have to type anything in at the command line? and what do i type in? I don't know. I just though i would have to type something in. Please reply back as soon as possible. Thanks guys.

During the installation process of RedHat 9 you should be asked about how you want to configure your boot loader (GRUB is the default). Can't remeber the exact details, but one of the options there should be something like 'add all other bootable disk to the menu'. This should then add 'windows' as an option when starting the computer.

If that option isn't there you can manually configure the bootloader. Check out the GRUB Manual for how to do that, the Configuration part might be the most interesting one. If you're using LILO (another bootloader) this little HOWTO is a nice place to start.

The 'placement of the command mode' varies between the different configurations, but bellow the 'menu' you should have an short description on different commands. It should be listed there, or at least a help thing should be there so you can use that to find out how to enter command mode.

You have to install Redhat first, and then use Lilo (linux Loader) as you boot manager to install Windows XP...I think.

You should install Windows first, then RedHat. The reason for this is that Windows overwrites your MBR (master boot record) without asking and it doesn't give you the oppurtunity to add/remove things from the boot menu, except other windows partitions. With RedHat you'll, at least you're supposed to, get the option of adding the windows partition to the menu.

It doesn't mather whenever you use LILO or GRUB, both will get the job done.
