Well, I've been out of action for about a week or so, and I've missed you all terribly. Well, OK, maybe not terribly.

Anyway, I finally got all my presentations for this semester out of the way, and now I can sit back and relax for a short while before diving into my summer work. It shouldn't be as hectic as this past month has been, though.

I also thought I'd say thank you to the Asylum for helping me out with the search engines. I was playing around with this page on alltheweb.com that allowed you to see the last ten searches performed (I've since lost the link to that page). I though I would run a search on "liminality" (the title of my site) and see if I could refresh the "latest ten searches" page quick enough to see my search (No, I don't get out much--why do you ask?).

Well, I wasn't able to refresh quick enough--or maybe I refreshed too quickly, I don't know. At any rate, liminality didn't pop up, and I was a bit disappointed. Until I went back to the search results. Pretty nifty, huh?

I decided to see what Google thought of me as well. At one point during this past week I was up to number two, but that blasted distantsky domain (my nemesis at alltheweb, as well) has knocked me back down to third. It must be the fact that I haven't posted anything here at the Asylum for the past week.

So, anyway, happy birthday to everyone I missed (Yannah, Petskull et al). Anything interesting happen while I was gone (well, outside of the Triad raids...)?

Glad to hear that you are back from being a book worm Nothing like some hard work (that I am sure will pay off) to appreciate the slack time.

I checked out the alltheweb thing. It turned up some interesting results.
I was wondering if search engines even crawled my site. I thing it may have something to do with my menu being a seperate file.

Anyway, nothing interesting happened for me except for my cdrom problem which I am about to give up on for now. Other than that, well. . . nothing that I care to post here

Later,

Welcome home, Suho. We missed you, too. Hope the presentations went well.
Time for a bit of Bumdomo. Ahhhh.
And one thing I try to keep in mind is a quote from my favorite pirate movie, Yellowbeard (while you`ve got all this school stuff on your mind) :

" One thing I can tell you is that learnin' never taught me nothin', and books is the worst."

Just, you know, for perspective.

Welcome back Man. I hoe every thing went well.

Is Suho's Shock Center back open? I think I'm overdue for a treatment.

Thanks db--I'll try to keep that in mind.

Although I know the comment was partly in jest, the quote does have merit. Book learnin' for its own sake is worthless, but if it teaches you more about yourself and the rest of humanity, then I think it is worthwhile. Besides, I've got to do something with my life, so I might as well do something I enjoy, right?

Not to say that I enjoy the stress part of it, but I do like my field of study. It could be a lot worse.

tiki: yup, the shock therapy center is open again, but I'm trying to get the phrase "Suho's ECT Salon" to catch on. It sounds less intimidating and more chic.

Ruski: I did see that sig, thanks. Actually, I've always wanted to make a sig like that, but I was never able to pull it off. Mind if I shrink it down a bit and throw it into my sig rotation?

Master Suho - are you in a Doctorate program so soon after getting the Masters completed? You'll be a Mad Scientist before your time if you're not careful! We'll be calling you Doc pretty soon!

db - I love that movie! One of my all time faves... been a while since I've seen it though!

Heh... I actually took a semester off before going into the doctorate program. Not intentionally, but that's what ended up happening. I don't think I would have wanted to wait any more...

I guess that's true... Wait too long, and get yourself out of the studying groove. Once that happens, it's awfully hard to get back into it!

More power to ya - I tried to go back to school last semester myself. It's been about 5 years or so since I've been out. I have about 9 classes to go for my BA and it's not even remotely related to the things I'm wanting to learn now... makes it hard to find time for it. But I'm so far through the program, it would be silly to change my major at this point.

Yup, and once you get into graduate school, it gets easier and easier to just slip through the cracks. I've seen plenty of people just "take a semester off" and never come back. They get out there, get a job, get married, etc., and then the opportunity is gone. Of course, the opportunity is never really gone, but very few people go back to it later on in life.

I will be one happy camper, though, when I finish my doctoral couse work... *sigh*

I'll be happy to survive my undergrad degree. Speaking of which, someone answer my damn sound question in the MM & Ani. forum!

Heh.. *smirk* ok, so I'm a little stressed. It's good to see you back round here though. I droped in on your web journal every now and then. Hurmph.. should probably get back to work now... I have a week and a half to pull way to many rabbits outa my hat. The suckers just don't breed fast enough nowadays.

I'll prolly catch you on Q later on in the month.

Drac: Yeah, my journal was inactive for about two weeks when the excrement was really hitting the rotary cooling device. Now that all that's done with I've got big plans for my site--a lot more content in the writings and imagery areas.

I've been pretty scarce on Q myself, but I'm getting back into the groove now.

Ruski: Thanks, man. I'll drop you a line on Q.
