Hi, guys. How are you?
A friend of mine got a problem.
She uses Mac and IE5 mac ver. She cannot open a lot of web site made by windows.
Why??? Do you have any idea??? If so, please let me know.

And one more. When she receive Japanese message, she cannot read it because Japanese has been changed into strange letters. Even she tried to encode but did not work. Why? and how to prevent this problem???

Many many thanks.

Regards,

I 've never heard of not being able to see sites made(or hosted) on a Windows box....

But as far as the Japanese getting messed up, that's a unicode issue. Here is a link on how to deal with it-

How does she know they were made using Windows? Besides, that shouldn't make any difference since Windows users and Mac users create sites using the same languages.

I'm a mac user and pretty much the only time I have a problem with a windows site is when it is flash file and it hasn't been embedded in an html page. Beyond that, if anything is ever screwy, it's just the formatting. The site still comes up.

If she was using windows, I'd tell her to reinstall IE5, and seeing as though its an MS product I think my suggestion may work like a lot of MS pooware.

Hi, guys. Many thanks for your replies.
Well, she'd better reinstall IE5...I agree with that.
And how does she know that those web site, she cannot see, made by windows pc.
That is good point. I don't know. I sent her email again to ask.
And I sent her my web site address. She couldn't see it. It is here.
If you are Mac user, please let me know it is all right or not.
Many thanks, guys.

Same setup as cyoung and - no problems seeing your site. 'Course there's no Japanese in it, but I can see the site fine...

hi, guys. Many many thanks for your help.
Yesterday I talked to my OS tutor about this matter.
He told me to reinstall IE.
I have already told her about it.
Hope it works.
Have a good day.
Cya.
