I'm using a grey box... Oh yes there are some holes in it too (for the air), and something inside makes a constant "whhhmmmmm"... Dunno what it is.

Really, it scares me.

I don't want to take a photo, I could scare it away

Old picture but... http://www.raptors-lair.com/images/various/compLights.jpg

I've since added the clear front panels and drilled a hole for that UV switch hanging out the front. As well as adding UV reactive round cables as well as fans. Next stop: water cooling & a big ol' 200gb harddrive.

and since it would loose a little bit of it's soul any time someone views it's picture,
you really don't want to post it on the net.

The only way to restore *your* soul is to look at other pictures of other people, preferably at pictures where as much as possible of them is viewable.
Alas, don't spend your time looking at the pictures of stars! They have little soul left to view from them!

I have a dull beige box with piles of papers stacked on top of it, ready to fall off and scatter, becoming even more disorganized.

That about sums it up. No trendwhore stuff for me.

Thanks Rappy, but I don't think it has any PCMCIA-comatible parts ... The last vacuum-tube computer I saw was hack in 1969 at Wolverhampton polytech. Sitting in a room of its own, and it was a museum piece then ... !! We'd progressed from patch cables all the way to the dizzying heights of paper tape, card and (if you could get there early enough to find an unused one) teletypes !!

Ahhh life was fun, but SLOOOOWWW !!

(aside) well since Yannah asked, I run 6 x 800Mhz Boxes, each with 512Mb RAM. Five of them have 80GB of disk space, and the sixth is used solely as a 400Gb RAID 0+1 file server. Of the other computers, two run Linux, one runs XP, two run W2K and one runs WinME. The two principal working maghines have Matrox G450 Dual head cards, the rest have plain vanilla cheap stuff, and they are all connected to two Starview KVM switches, and a pair of Iiama VM Pro451 19" screens. Networking is facilitated by a 3Com OfficeConnect 10/100 Mbps switch, and internet access is via an Alcatel Speedtouch aDSL modem into an 1024/256 Mbps, unlimited volume, aDSL over ISDN. I also run a Dell C800 laptop with 512 MB, 20GB and Linux 7.3. and on the house network my wife also runs an IBM Thinkpad 600 with Win2K.

However, I have no photograph, but who wants a photo of a pile of dull gray boxes anyway ????

Hey Yannah ... where's the photo of YOUR computer(s) ???
