Hi guys. I was using yahoo messenger just fine and then when i restart my computer. Some how my yahoo messenger has been locked and i think my password has been changed. Does anyone on this board has the skills to hack back for me to my original password and unlock my account?? ok let's assume that someone knows how to do that. Can someone please do it for me for FREE at no cost?? I will not give out the original password in here. If someone wants you could e-mail me and i would give you the address or i could e-mail one of you guys. This was my yahoo user name. dsantamassino@yahoo.com

Don't e-mail me there because it's locked. It's locked for security reasons. Whatever that means. I want my original account because i have some very important people in my yahoo friend list. Please reply back here as soon as possible. Thank You so much guys.

Sorry, don't know of any hackers... or better term, crackers here that I know of. Personally under most circumstances, I do not advocate that, and this place that I know of feels the same way.

Best to wait out the lock time limit and then try loggin in to your email from your browser. If ya cannot do that, then ask to have your password sent to your alternate email that you gave them when you signed up for the account just to make sure that nobody else got your password. Otherwise you are S.O.O.L. I have a feeling that some little script kiddie used an account locker on you, in that case you are locked out for about 12 - 24 hours. Tough luck if you did.

Ehh, I don't think this is the right place to be looking for "crackers", Derek.

I've been here only for a while, yet something tells me you're gonna get what's coming to ya...

Even people who knows how to "crack" can't deal with that. They can't help you with what you want them to do because they know that it's against the rule/law. They're just abiding with this forum's agreement.

Hello,

I wouldn't term that a cracker, hacker was the correct word.

Once I need didn't forget my password but it was too long that in "change password" page I couldn't change it! then I had to use the "Forgot password" functionality to reset my password.

so either use "forgot password" or try to convince yahoo support people.

lallous: I was just about to disagree with you, when I reconsidered the situation.

I found a good explanation of the difference between a "hacker" and a "cracker": http://infectious.catharsis.org/pr/hvc.htm

In short, what seperates them is ethics, which the hacker possesses and the cracker does not. The media, however, almost always uses the former term, when referring to either of them.

The way Derek originally requested that his account be "hacked" into tempted me do dismiss this as another "cracking" case, but he does have a legitimate cause, after all.

Just some thoughts...

I have always known this... Hackers are ones who help out with computer related security problems. Crackers too discover security problems and use them for their own gain... i.e. viruses, breaking passwords, destroying and stealing sensitive information. The news media just has the name bass ackwards.

so, end of story is, we can't really help you besides pointing you to the yahoo 'forgotten my password' page.
Therefore, I'm closing this.

Hi people...if you're going to re-open a topic...would oyu mind posting a message saying why.

If you did it becuase you think we can have a nice discussion on the difference between hackers and crackers, then move it on down to the Philosophy forum...meanwhile, I'm going to close this one again
