anyone seen whats on zeldman today? i think he finally did it: a better validation service with better explanations what an error means. i think this is a great oppurtunity for newbees to the web, so that they can learn easier and faster what they made wrong.
read:

-the announcement of the w3c

Yes, this has been in order for some time now. The "fussy parsing mode" should be useful for many people.

Now, if they could update the CSS validator too...

And yet on your blog you claim your website is valid XHTML. I think the only special thing there is the person pounding away at the keyboard.

Well at least since it's not valid he can't stick those ugly buttons all over the place.

my stuff is nowhere close, which isn't surprising as its nothing i've ever worked on much before.

things brings a question tho, how much should i worry about this sort of thing?i'm not a developer, i'm not a programmer, and while i understand the importance of compatibility and standards this isn't the sort of thing i want to spend my time doing, i'm much more concerned on the visual aspect and communication of what i'm designing. thoughts?

Fig: Focusing on standards increases the ability for you to implement your "visual aspect and communication", because it makes things the same for everyone (hopefully). As mas mentioned, it is good for beginners especially to learn this stuff.
