Amusing...

Level: 6
Final Score: 2500
Safe stabs: 70
Rating: You are among the best

Still, no matter how many times you stab him he still does not even flinch... what a man!

It took me two tries before I figured out you're NOT supposed to hit his fingers...

krets: So what is the point of the game? I was hoping that after you got to cut the fingers off you could use the knife to pin the hand to the table - still trying.

Oh my, there are people who haven't played mumbly peg??

quote:
"The sane version was similar to horseshoes played with knives. The
object was to toss your knife so it stuck into the ground, point-down, as
close as possible to the mark.

The crazed animal version was a form of "chicken"--the mark was your own
foot, and the winner was whomever got closest without actually hitting
himself."

...

"Umm, the one I learned was a little crazier. You knelt on the
ground (or I suppose you can stand...) and then balanced the knife on
its point on your finger, trying to flip it into the ground point first.
If you did, you got to move on to the wrist, the elbow, the shoulder, the
chin, and back down the other side. If you didn't stick, your turn was
over. First one to get up one side and down the other won.

My parents were actually the ones who taught me this, although
Dad cautioned us to play in a clear area. A friend of his had played next
to a basketball court and a stray ball hit him while he was playing
off the wrist. The word "impale" came to mind. Ouch!"

One of the versions I grew up with:

quote:
We were taught a game with pen-knives as children in rural Berkshire, England, called 'Split the Kipper' (note the nautical reference) where the thrower had to hit
the centre point between the feet of the opponent's spread legs. Taking alternate throws, the first to hit the middle could then aim for the inside of either foot. Close enough to the foot and the feet had to be spread wider and wider apart until the opponent fell over.

The other version I learned forever ago is this 'Five Finger Fillet.' Winner got the most consecutive 'hits' in some set amount of time... Ah, the good ol' days

And a slightly more involved version: http://www.inquiry.net/outdoor/games/beard/mumbly_peg.htm
