What is it? (more like which :P)

I just uninstalled Corel 8, thus the thing removed all file assocations with it, but it did not rstored originals. My problem is that i cannot get a thumb preview in explorer for neither jpgs or gifs. Took me a while to find which for pngs, but got them to wrok right.

My OS is win98 if that matters

It sounds more as if you are talking about programs associated with extensions, not mime types.

If you are talking about associating a program with the file extension, just double click on the unassociated file and select a program when the Select Program dialog box pops up. You can check the check box that says always use this program to open this file type.

No, i was talking about mime type. I already associated pngs gifs and jpgs to be opened with microsoft photoeditor, my deal is that in the preview on the left when you click the file in explorer (you know, the little thumb of the image below the folder name (at least on win98)) does not show up, probably a worngly associated mime type. As i said i got right mime type for pngs, just not jpegs and gifs.

Thanks so much. It was what i was looking for, tho it did not fix my problem in its entirety. not your fault may i say, it was mine for not being more careful, as i was forced to mess a bit with registry. Everything is back to normal tho
