YES!! It's finally here! For those here who have been waiting for it for... erm... three years now. It has just been released.

Blizzard

From what I've heard there is a Lvl 37 Ladder player already. I can't wait to see how the new clan structure affects gaming and how the emphasis on party play works out.

My favorite site for information on D2 is DiabloII.net

*LordofSteel if anyone wants to catch up with me.

Finally they can start focusing on the 1.13 patch for Warcraft 3

But sersiously that is great. Dropped playing Diablo 2 a while back, but I might just try it out again to see how different it is with the new patch. With all the changes they've made it looks like a (almost) completely new game.

One of the coolest changes is in the background. They've changed the program architecture so the skills are data driven rather than puller from the character file. That means making MODs for the game is much much easier. Now any skill can be given to any character. This also means coding new skills will be easier since it's almost a plug in module. With the skill structure nearly mirroring D&D I might just have to turn my hand at MODing sometime to see what I can do.

Someone that I know used to play with all his hacked, bugged and whatnot items. I'm laughing at him since they're gone now....

I'll be installing D2 + LOD when I get home from my midterm tonight (Cha-ching!).

I'll be starting a new character on B.net (possibly... never went on B.net before...) so anyone who wants to play with me is welcome.

I'll update this post with my name and such once I get it all going.

Now this is just the coolest. I brought my Lvl 98 Barbarian into an active world event and got myself an Annihilus charm. it only took 45 minutes to kill Diablo but, Man... what a rush. The game has gotten fun all over again. I guess that just goes to show you that 1.09 characters aren't totally worthless yet.

[EDIT] I'll keep an eye out for you, Synax. If we can get enough people from the Asylum maybe we can try and create a Clan. It takes 9 players plus the captain (chieftan in WC3)[/EDIT]

Grythus - If you are interested in the D2 modding field, go check The Phrozen keep. You may have done already, but in case you didnt, there you have it.

Damn, I wanna buy this game now, I've played it before and it rocks, never played it online though. I played Diablo I online a bit that was good, but the cloning of items made it bad, trouble is I don't have the £9.99 to buy it, it's so cheap, yet I'm so poor.

I also want a Gamecube, I should have the £79.99 for that next week....hmm...

Hmm, I go really faint at the sight of needles, dunno why, just some psychological problem I have, I dunno.

I do have about £160 to spend on myself next weekend though, which means Gamecube + game, and diablo 2 and maybe the expansion, is it best to have the expansion or just the original for online play?

Definatly buy the Expansion as well, the is much better with it!

I might be able to join you in your escapades this weekend. What server are you people playing on? I'll be starting a new account so I might as well start a n account on the server the rest of you're playing on

I should have enough cash for the expansion too, so I'll get that

And yeah I'll be starting as a new character obviously so if you could tell us which server you play on that'd be cool, would be great to play alongside some inmates.

Do you guys (or gals) play any other online games? It'd be cool if we could all play some or something.

I have (off the top of my head)-

CounterStrike 1.6
Battlefield 1942 (the original, i wanna but secret weapons too)
All C&C games except generals and Yuri's revenge.
Rise of Nations
Emperor - Battle for Dune
Warcraft 3 (anyone got the expansion? I've thought about buying that too)
I have a few more too but I can't think what else as I'm at work

Well... I have a n account on all of them... but I use USeast more often then any (it's the most stable of them all) LordofSteel on all four servers. Went looking for you last night Synak.. must have missed you. Currently a 16th lvl Frenzy Barbarian named BlurofSteel. If you enter the account name into your friends list instead of the character name you get every login/game entry that any charater under that account makes. So you never miss someone when they make a new character.

Oh and typing /o fm will allow people to send messages to your E-mail even if you aren't online. So I could ping you, Synax, even if you weren't on at the time. (hint, hint ) Assuming of course they are in your friends list already. /o cm will allow Clan mail and announcements through, once a clan is made anyway. So... to ask again. Do we have enough D2:LOD players here to make a clan? All that is required are 10 worthy sould and 2 hours game time a cycle.

Synax plays, Indus used too (where did he go anyway?), InSiDEr mentioned his amazon once a long time ago... We need more!

Mindbender... I'm serious about the 450 Mhz offer I made a while ago. My 3.2 should be here in a month or so and my 1.9 will go to MoonDancer. Hell I'll even toss in a new phone cord. LOL

Buy the battle chest. It gets you all of the games D1, D2 and D2:LOD. D2 and d2:LOD are the only important ones though. D1 is just painful and some background story that you can kind of get in the game anyway.

LIAR!

D1 > D2 all days of week. At least i liked it better, excpet for the lack of running and unique skills for char.

prawnstar - for what i know, wc3: tft adds several more stuff and its worth your budget.

Hmm, I do prefer D2 over D1, me and my mate used to null modem cable our PCs together and play D1 all the time it was great, D2 seems so much better.

And thanks for the advice on getting the W3 expansion, I'll buy it when my friend gives me W3 back, she's at uni and I won't see her until Christmas :'(

Hellfire (from Sierra games) was a decent expansion on D1. It added 'Jog' so you could run while in town. And an add on prog called patchhelp or something allowed and disallowed a few things that were left out of hellfire. multiplayer support, a couple of classes. balancing issues that were not employed in the original release. I can shoot you the loader if you want but you'll have to find hellfire on your own.

Sierra's Hellfire for Diablo 1 on Amazon

Link to Patch Helper loading program for Hellfire games

Blizzard patch page for Diablo 1

I also have the hellfire patch saved somewhere at home. and a couple of tricks that were released to play with in hellfire. I'll have to hunt those down though. If anyone is interested E-mail/IM/post me and I'll track them down.

Hmmm.. Well.... Veneficuz has made his entry (several times) on D2, as has MoonDancer. Currently we have a lvl 10 barbarian (GrythusDraconis) a lvl 6 assassin (Moon-Dancer) and a lvl 6 Paladin (v-sparhawk). Still looking for more players from the asylum. Currently we meet in the channel 'Ozone'. My acount name is available (*LordofSteel) and I'm on most every night (Central Time US 6-12PM).

Synax - You're still MIA. You either have the exact opposite schedule from mine or you're never on =)

Rauthrin - Do you have an account name? Is it *Rauthrin? Let me know or look me up. it'd be great to get more people into the game.

Ven and I were discussing an Asylum Mod for the Asylum players to play over Open Bnet. Fully editing the map tiles and items, changing skills and the focus of the game. Time consuming but funnier than hell. Thing like pill throwing and straight jacket armor, not to mention shock sticks and things like that. So far the Mod department is pretty slow in getting the editors out so it's a back burner sort of idea.

BTW - We're playing on USEast server. It's the most stable. Never really thought of that being an issue, Synax... Where you at?
