I was playing around on the Mozilla site and found this nifty piece of code:
http://texturizer.net/firebird/adblock.html

You insert some code into a CSS file and essentially it puts a display:none on most ad banners. Worked like a charm for me.

There are more cool tips here:

hey that's pretty nifty. Make it easy to mod the look of firebird.

Wish it was that easy for other browsers.

I was once bothered by an ad too.
So, I put a DIV-tag right after the BODY-tag
and the ending DIV-tag just before the ending BODY-tag.
Now, the banner code was always added at the end of the source-code, therefore outside the DIV.
I set the DIV to position: absolute and set it to be located at a specific x,y location.
Under the entire site I made another DIV, totally black, since the background of the page was black.
I put it on top of the ad and therefore the ad "disappeared".

Muhahahaha... MUHAHAHAHA!... MUUUHAAA.... ok I'm gonna stop now.

muahahaha...muahahaha....that's stealing from your webhost....not a nice thing to do...and it's also a violation of your user agreement with them (I assume)

Aah, I must've misinterpreted the first post.

Yah, you're right, it probably is a violation, and no, it's not nice.
