So, after the fairly dissapointing (yet fucking cool) Matrix Reloaded, is anyone going to go see Revolutions tommorow?

Fairly disappointing? Maybe to you.

And yes, I'll be there.

Didn't think Revolutions was dissapoiting, but then I didn't have that high expectations...

I'll probably try to see the movie sometime this weekend. Not that important for me to see this one on the premiere.

I believe the really odd people who were disapointed with reloaded are going to like it a whole lot more after seeing revolutions. I think many of the things that may have seemed frivolous in reloaded will be explained or made relevant.

Yes my ticket is ready and waiting for me. 7:40pm tomorrow night.

Well, what I found dissapointing was mainly (a) the fact that it just didn't live up to 'Matrix' and (b) there was just one too many cheesy parts (when Neo jumpstarted Trinities heart comes to mind) in Reloaded. But that doesn't diminish the fact that I bought it the day it came out, it was still a good movie, I was just...dissapointed.

Welp, got my ticket

Matrix Reloaded is really dissappointing, but I guess that's just how it is for Part 2 movies.

I could have done without the love scene in Reloaded, sex and the Matrix just don't jive with me. Other than that I thought it was an excellent movie. It did the job of a part 2, left you hanging with tons of unanswered questions. The first movie is to get things started with a bang, which the Matrix did wonderfully. Part two is supposed to be a lot more drawn out, you get to know the people, the places, and things better. Part three is supposed to wrap it up and be the most exciting. So we'll see.

I was wondering what these guys are going to do after the Matrix, really a hard one to top, and anything less spectacular will be criticized.

Umm, seriously: They seem to have this real-life manga thing down good. Maybe some Ghost in the Shell inspired stuff. That'd be awesome.

I think the reason a lot of people had issue with reloaded is because they wexpected it to be the same as Matrix. Why? it's the second book in a series, basically. It has it's own story and it's own pace. It isn't a recreation of the first book. Another thing is that the animatrix movies that were released weren't just cool matrix additions. They are integral to the story, part of the matrix development. If they weren't watched some of the things in the movie didn't make as much sense. I have been (and continue to be) thrilled with reloaded but i know revolutions will blow them all out of the water. I suggest getting and watching the animatrix some time so you can see all of the short movies and get some of that missing information. The varying animation style remind me of Heavy Metal. It's interesting.

I will be there opening night. and also this weekend.

Perhaps we could get DL to hand out some kind of movie recommendation ratings? E.g.:

quote:
"I give this 3 crabs"

DL: Perhaps you should get that seen to

And yep I'm looking forward to this one as I do hope it explains aspects of the second film which I felt were left hanging -we'll see

call me crazy, but I was not impressed with the animatrix. at all.

Also, I don't think the 3rd will be better than the first. I don't think it *can* be. The first was so out there... and thats what made it. 2nd and 3rd... nah. Just alliterations on the first.

Now the grapic efx in the 3rd, I can not wait to see.

The animatrix was, imo, about half-way good. Great animation, for the most part, was hampered by some tired stories and bad directing. By far my favorite one was 'Beyond' and my least favorite were the two (most hyped) 'Second Renaissance 1/2.' They added to it, as did the 'Enter the Matrix' video game, but really, if Revolutions is like the Matrix at all, I'd consider Reloaded to be more filler than anything.

bingo GD. i was actually the same way in my first viewing of reloaded, then i realized that it just couldn't be the same film. we've already seen the cool new stuff introduced in the first film, that's nothing exciting anymore. they had to take us deeper into the matrix universe in order to set up what's about to happen. the animatrix filled in a lot of those little gaps as well and raised some interesting questions just like reloaded did. we've really only have seen half a film, i think (and hope) that revolutions will just blow us away.

i was gonna go to an 8am show, been moved to the 1:30 showing. VERY pumped, and waiting to see what and how its answered

At this time in Holland, you can still get tickets for the premiere. Which kinda surprises me.

(and I suggest that if somebody wants to talk about the movie with spoilers and the like, he/she should open a new thread.)

I'm quite looking forward to seeing it at the cinema, I think it's a very cinema film with all those special effects you need a big screen with great sound.

I'll wait until the masses of people going to see it have died down a little, meaning I'll probably see it when I'm at my girlfriend's next (couple of weekends away). I don't think it'll top the original but I have a feeling it'll be better than Reloaded and I'm pretty sure I already know the twist at the end of this one.

I watched the making of Revoloutions the other day on MTV fantastic how they did the mid air combat and stuff.

I'll just be waiting for the Trilogy box set to come out on DVD after I've seen Revoloutions.

Oh. And I thought the Animatrix was pretty cool, some great work there, I guess some of the storylines could;ve been better, but it's good stuff.

I need to see the Cowboy Bebop movie too, that should be cool.

I saw the premiere this afternoon here in the UK, surprisingly I got tickets about 1 hour before hand and only about half the seats were taken. It did make Revolutions make more sense, and I would recommend people go see it. If only for a laugh at Reeve's "acting"...

So far Revolutions has gotten almost universally bad reviews. But I still think I'm going to enjoy it for the following reasons:

1. Everyone complained about the pseudo-religious psycho babble in Reloaded not making any sense. Yet to me it made perfect sense and I enjoyed the complexity of it.

2. People complained about the special effects in Reloaded not being as impressive. Wha-huh? I think everyone's just a bit jaded with the current state of special effects being what it is, nevertheless, the technical side of Reloaded represents a huge refinement of the techniques they used in the first Matrix. Bottom line: I liked the action.

3. Endless complaints about how bad Reloaded was compared to the original. Of course the sequel is not going to have the same dark and mysterious feel of the first one. How could it? Sure Keanu works better playing a clueless character rather than the leader, but I can get past the bad acting. The new story kept me interested and wasn't predictable.

Frankly I think everyone just puts the first Matrix up on a pedestal and then is mad that the sequels don't measure up. For me, Reloaded was very entertaining despite some nitpicks, and I expect Revolutions to be the same way.

Well that is certainly problem number one. Not because it makes them have expectations that are to ohihg, but because the first movie simply was not that goddamn impressive.

I mean, yeah there were some really cool computer effects. There was some great dark imagery. There were cool names, cool clothes, cool kung-fu, and lot's of pseudo-cerebral banter.

But there was very little that was new or interesting as far as actual concept, plot, acting, character development, etc.

Bleh. I just don't get what the fuss is all about.

The first Matrix was a good movie...it wasn't a film.

Once that sinks in, people might be able to remove head from ass and see it for what it is...vapid amounts of fun.

Why did reloaded fail? It took itself too seriously. Christ, it wasn't even Dark City in the scheme of cerebral thought, but suddenly it's being touted as brilliant and intuitive.

Love the movies if you must, I have no issue with that. I enjoyed the couple hours of my life I spent on the Matrix...but the hype is just so fucking pathetic. It diminishes something that was good mindless fun.

Revolutions sounds as though it skews even farther into pointlessness than reloaded did (A movie which I walked away from about half an hour into). We'll see.

Trilogies are tough...it's often better to sit down and watch them syncruently so that you can gain perspective on things you put far too much investment into during your wait to see them.

Or go get crabs.

S'all good.

most of the theaters on the island had a problem with the syncing of the sound and the film. The sound came about 4 or 5 seconds after the actors spoke and stuff.... it was like watching japanese movies (which I happen to hate).... luckly it only lasted for about 20 minutes.....
