Can anyone suggest a (polite hehe...) way of correcting an annoying habit of my IE6 (and previous versions also) not snapping to full screen size on opening, either from initial browser but more particularly when opening to a fresh browser window from a link, etc?

I have tried dragging it from corners... maximising it from top left icon menu then closing/reopening... all kindsa chit... all without lasting affect. My lad tells me I have too much time to spare and to 'get a life!' LOL....... but I know you guys 'n gals will treat my ask with more respect! *grin*

Cheers...

We have done so.

^KoalaBear^: Welcome in the asylum. The open, maximize, close tricks works for me. At least does it re-open to the same position/size when you open and close an IE ?

Thanks for the Welcome InI...

Umm... lemme explain it this way to ya. My IE will not fully open and always requires the 'maximise' button to be clicked to get it to snap to full screen size. Generally its only shy by a few mms / 1/4 inch or so but its still bloody annoying.

Thanks too poi...

Yes that does seem to break its cycle habit and return it to full size... but generally only till you close it after surfing or viewing pages and then need to open IE again... then its back to requiring to manually maximising it!

I should tell you I'm using the pretty stable Win98 SE on 800 x 600 monitor setting.

Right-click the shortcut icon.

Choose "properties"

there will be an option that will say something to the effect of "run in" or "open in"

and it will probably have a value of "normal window".

Change that value to "maximized" and you should be all set.

Thanks InI... ask a silly question... get an even sillier answer, huh? LOL

Thanks too DL-44... Have followed your advice and will monitor it for awhile. Knew 'Properties' was there but not that slot... Thanks for what you 'merkans call the 'heads up' on it. Much appreciated.

Ummm... ya haven't got a suggestion on how I can keep my IE opening to 'medium' text size (per View menu) instead of it wanting to return to 'smallest'? I have my icons set to small... would this be having an effect on the way it's defaulting?

Cheers

LOL Ini.. I was only razzin ya Cobber!

I'm not pefectly sure I know what the default is but think its smaller or smallest. I want it defaulted to medium though. A friend says hers on XP is defaulted to smaller... another on Win98 says his defaults to smallest.. like mine seems to do.

Not sure where you mean to look for this "Is the checkmark set to medium in the "fonts size" menu?" unless its the View/Text Size Menu where I've been speaking about. The only other Font menu I could find is in Tools/Internet Options... but see no settings for sizes there.

Cheers
