I was wondering if anyone knew of a good alternative to the Windows media player for listening to mp3 files.
I am looking for something that does not use up a bunch of my computer's processing power.
I noticed that when the media player is open, it uses up like 15 percent of my computers
CPU Usage, which just seems crazy to me.

Thanks in advance.

I use a P3-733MHz and WMP takes much more than 15% of CPU, many times.
I use Winamp 2.x as my first choice mp3 player.
But this has been already discussed here a lot of times. Take a look at the faq.

winAmp is much better. It eliminated the CPU usage by about 10%, down from 15% to about 5% or less.
Thanks.

I used to use winamp 2x, but recently (after they released it for Windows) downloaded iTunes. It doesn't seem to use up too much processing power: I can still run all my games with it in the background, and I haven't noticed it affecting PS at all.

The feature that I like about it is the smart playlists, which automatically organize all my music for me, since I have tons, into playlists (like: Stick all by this artist in here, all by this album in here).

Each one with their own way.
I use winamp just to play music. To organize my mp3s, I use folders.
Then, when I want to hear some album, or set of musics, I play the folder.
That's all I need.
I rarely save a music playlist or so.
In WMP, I hated when it automatically added a music to the set of playlists (it has a way to disable this feature) just because I had played it
In my P3-733MHz, winamp needs almost undetectable quantity of CPU cycles. I believe less than 1%, as an average, with the equalizer on.
