CPrompt: I think the niggles might come from the fact that the directors cut of the film was 6 hours long and they trimmed it down to 3 hours 20 minutes. Stuff gets lost in the process but ohhhhh what an extended edition DVD that will make!!!

One of those night here Heh I'll have to check the FAQ to see if there are any suggestiions on "How to drag yourself away from Photoshop"?
On the LOTR theme I have read the book ages ago but I have only been tempted to watch a film of it now with Peter Jackson directing.

Emps: it just gives me something to bitch about now that I have a job that I actually like, they come few and far in between.

I think Jackson has done one hell of a job on these movies. I am really looking foward to this one and at the same time a little sad because it will all be over and no more anticipation for the next movie

My friends and I just bought our ticket for 8:30 Wednesday night. I'll be watching the extended edition of Two Towers on my father's new 50-inch the night before. (This will be my fifth viewing of TT I believe.) I also think I will begin reading the book again (fifth time) after I finish a few non-fictions I need to get out of the way. (The Simpsons and Philosophy, The Texas Aggie Bonfire, and A Path Between the Seas if you're curious.)

Edit: A little double post action stuff thing.

P.S. If you haven't seen the extended TT and you felt a little cheated by the theatrical release I highly sudgest you take the time. Much was put back in that made me, a rather hard-cord LoTR fan, happy. i.e. Huorns, Floatsam and Jetsam, and some scenes with Faramir that really make him seem closer to the character he was in the book.

Can barely wait for the movie. Got tickets for the pre-opening show on monday. The tickets cost a small fortune, but with Viggo Mortensen showing up I pretty sure they'll be worth it! Have my last exam that day as well, so that is going to be the best after-exam party ever

Agree with SPyX. The extended version of TT made the movie much better. Still not as good as the book, but if you only watch it is as a movie it is brilliant.

Yes the trailer is worth watching on its own merits as much as for a glimpse at RotK.

I just finished watching the extended version of TTT not five minutes ago, and I can attest that it does indeed fill in a lot of the holes, as we had all hoped it would. I also read some of the reviews coming out of the premiere of ROTK in NZ, and they have been extremely positive. I don't think I've been this psyched to see a movie in my entire life. Hopefully I'll be over jet lag quickly so I can see it as soon as possible.

i rented TTT a bit back... but I guess it was not the extended one. Foo.

This is gonna be GOOOD!

One year between movies hardly feels like enough time though. I really would not have minded waiting 2 or 3 years between em cause they are so awesomes.

It took George Lucas 40 years to fuck up the most loved movie franschise of all time. The Wachowski brothers managed to fuck up the most beloved movie franschise of the 90's in 5 years. Peter Jackson, a virtually unknown film director, manages to make (one of the best) (extremely solid) movie franschises in what...4?

Well, before LOTR, I'd seen that muppet movie that he made, and this extremely violent zombie movie. But really, I didn't know it was Jackson.

cfb: Yep 'Bad Taste' and 'Brain Dead' (slightly different names in the States I think) are some of the best zombie films ever made. 'Meet the Feebles' is a great adult version of the muppets. His other films between then and LotR were a bit iffy but 'Heavenly Creatures' shows how he started playing with the LotR style (I didn't enjoy it but that doesn't make it a bad film).

We waited and waited for the expanded edition of TTT to come out... I thoroughly enjoyed it. I did notice though, that some of what they cut out was actually important! Like...

*minor spoiler if you haven't seen it!*

...the bit in the stables with Aragorn & Eowyn are talking to/about Theodren's (?sp) horse, Brego. That's not in the theatre release. And we had been wondering, where the hell did that horse come from that rescues Aragorn after he falls during the Warg battle! Now we know! I mean, sheesh! 2 whole minutes there, but it was important!

I am so looking forward to this next one. Everything gets wrapped up, and Jackson's trilogy is complete! (3 hours cut, eh? Do you really think they'll put that much back in the expanded DVD?) His vision of the story is so close to the book - I've really been very impressed with it. The books are so long, and so dense with details... you couldn't really make a movie that would do proper justice to them all. I think Jackson's done a bang up job with it.

What I can't wait for, is the expanded ROTK to come out next November! Dang it! Watch it once and have to wait a whole year to see it again. I only get a minor reprieve when I rent the theatre release on dvd 6 months later... *sigh*

BTW, all of the expanded versions look really awesome on a 50" projection screen... and the DTS sound at 800 watts is mindblowing! We have the best entertainment system...

Someone told me they read an online review that says when you get to the final battle sequence "you will sh*t your pants"... and then you "will sh*t your pants with stuff you didn't even eat!" it's that good. I am very excited and plan to see this at the Tuesday midnight showing, I've already got the tickets!
