I want to build a new system for me. I want good pieces. I'll start with the power supply.
Does anyone have a good advice for which power supply to buy?
My system will probably be a Pentium 4, 3.0GHz HT, 512MB RAM PC3200, 800MHz MB, with 4 HDs, a DVD burner, a DVD reader and the usual stuff (lots of fans). I will be buying the pieces slowly. I plan to have the new system up and running only by Feb-Mar/2004. I'll start with the pieces that have less probability of having a reduction is price.

wow.. it's funny you post this, as I just got back from the store. I am doing the same thing, building a new system..part by part... and hoping to have it down by early to mid Feb. LOL

Anyway, I just brought home a 400w power supply and another gig of ram (2 x 512)... I figured that should be enought juice.

I have the p4p800 asus mobo with 800fsb, 3.6mhz processor, g-force fx 5200 vid-card and a total of 2 gig of ram now (4 x 512)

I get paid every 2 weeks, which put a serious damper on my shopping sprees.. but I promised myself I would not put it all together until I have all the stuff I want..including one of those fancy liquid cooled cases.

You have all the most expensive parts already, it seems.
Which brand of power supply did you buy?
