that, has been in developmental hell for a long time. Now that Douglas is dead... they started work on it... nice.

they better do it justice... and i think there is hope because Douglas wrote the first script, i belive.

Now, i just wish they would hurry it up.

mhmm yah...i read the first part. very nice book indeed.
what a pity that they don't got the edition anymore from which i got the first book. if you get all 4, you can put them together and get a nice puzzle image then. but now, i don't want to get the 3rd and 4th party anymore, since i won't get any cool images

however, i think its nice that they continue working on it

Notice that the only confirmed cast member so far is Stephen Moore, the original voice of Marvin the Paranoid Android.

To carry over a debate that's currently underway at IMDB, how would you cast this movie?

it is funny you should mention this... i got the hitchhikers trilogy (now of 6 books) for christmas, and have been reading em. Granted, i have been pacing myself this time. The first time around they took over my life, one book at a time.

Depends on how decidedly british the lead character needs to be. If they are going to americanize it a bit I would like to see Jason Lee as Arthur Dent, and The Rock as Zaphod Beelblebrox.

I don't see the Rock at all. I would think Johnny Dep as Ford and Brandon Fraser as Arthur, and perhap Jeff Goldblum as Zaphod, as Zaphod is an ex-hippy. with Kate Hudson as Trillian.

hmm, no word on Zaphod.

Who the heck is Martin Freeman? Looks like he's from england...

No Zaphod yet...

but hmm...

Ford and Trillian have been named... Should I be worried yet?

Zooey was okay in Elf... but i was left wondering if she could act. And I dont even know who Mos Def is. He really does not look like a "ford prefect" to me. But... Zooey does not look a thing like trillian either. I dont think.

No big star though.

Let's just keep in mind that IMDB isn't always the most accurate of sources. (I mean, the thing already has London listed as a filming location and they're still in casting.)

Douglasadams.com, which claims to have the only official information -- and which, incidentally, has a terribly hard-to-read navigation bar -- hasn't confirmed the casting for Slartibartfast that IMDB lists.

However, it does list Sam Rockwell as Zaphod. After seeing his performance in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, I'd be anxious to see what he does with Zaphod.

I'm interested to see what they do with it this go round... The previous film version was really long and so very discount Dr. Who. I enjoy the stories, but we left wanting after seeing the first version on film. With a slightly larger budget and some new special effect technology I think they could pitch a winner.

When I think of the first movie, I always see Zaphod's second head with it's 4 phrases and 2 expressions... "Hey what?" I'm hoping they do that ever so much better next time round.

This Martin Freeman fellow certainly looks the part, but I think Rowan Atkinson would make a superb Arthur...
Johnny Depp would make a good Ford, but I think Jeff Goldblum could play him equally as well.
Zaphod... hmm... I never pictured him as a big guy - I couldn't see The Rock doing that part... though I imagine he could act it... just don't look it. I'm trying, but I can't think of anyone for the part... But not ol' Dwayne Johnson... no, that part's not for him...

Personally I could only see Vivian Stanshall as the book if they HAD to remake it ... but I can't see the point in making it anyway. It was, it is and it always will be - RADIO drama ... not visula, not written ... RADIO ...

Could you imagine Firesign Theatre in film ?? Jeez .. that'd be worse than National Lampoon!
