Topic awaiting preservation: SmartHeap error (C++ RunTime)

Ever since I had some hassle installing an EA Sports game (it hung and had the PC had to be reset), my email program generates a SmartHeap error, MEM_UNSUPPORTED in C++ Run Time Library, when I try to read an email.

Two questions, is there a tool/app to check the validity of my C++ Runtime files and is it possible to download and re-install the C++ RunTime Libraries from the wonderful Micosoft web site?

Did you scan your system for virus?
Or did you try to contact EA Sports?

I have a virus scanner running and it updates every day. I haven't contacted EA Sports, after re-booting the PC, the game installed fine. Although the failed installed seems to have caused the problem, I don't think the game was at fault.
