for those of you who do not know what FMV stands for is (Full Motion Video)

and if you wondering what the hell this are...well, people are using this term usually to refer to those in game rendered CGI cutscenes like in Final Fantasy etc.

They are very eye catching and hard to miss...I am sure many of you saw them...this includes War Craft 3 opening scene.

So my question is, how do so many people rip them to .avi and such formats?...How is it even possible to rip them from playstation disk?

is there any kind of particula software or such, to rip a PS2 or PS1 in game cinemas?...

For PS1 I believe Bleem! has some video capture features. I am not sure if it is video capture of just screen capture. I am not sure about PS2 stuff through.

I would always recommend google for your answers. Search for things like "playstation video capture" or the like.

Tried Bleem a long while ago, wasn't too impressed.

Check out ePSXe. It plays most games. Also, you will need to get plugins for it as well from NGEmu. I am not positive as it has been a while, but I believe it has video capture or some such thing.

I am not sure if they have the system ROM available, might not be allowed, so if anyone needs that feel free to msg or email.

As far as PS2, wouldn't they maybe be actual dvd files (vob or whtatever)?

You can always just take the video out of the playstation and plug right into a video capture card on your PC.

Fairly simple stuff.

Otherwise I'm sure there's ways for pulling the files off the disk.

Well, if you video has video in, you just plugin in the s-video or RCA video lead into the back of you video card and the other into the TV. Your video card should come with software to capture video and auto through those inputs.

That asside, if playstation emulators can read and play the video files on playstation discs, chances are someone has written software just to read, convert and save these files off of the disc.

But like WarMage said, you're more liekly to find something by pounding google for a good hour or so.
