Topic awaiting preservation: borderless popup windows (Page 1 of 1)

is it possible to do a window.open and remove all borders? i just want to open a 100x100 window, for example, with no buttons, not title bar, no scroll, nothing. just a plain 100x100 space so that i can create my own window look.

Search this forum and the DHTML archives for "chromeless" and "holy grail".

It's a hack, by the way, which is annoying to many people, usually unecessary, and only works in IE. My recommendation: don't use it. Let people have the good old windows controls that they're used to.

cool, thanks! i'll look into this further and see if it's worth the trouble. why couldn't netscape and IE become one, so we wouldn't have to deal with cross browser compatibility....

I got a cromeless pop up add the other day... It was so friggin anoying... no little "x" to click to close it. I used alt-f4 to kil it... idiots.

This isn't so much an IE is better than NN thing. This whole thing is a total hack taking advantage of what is actually a bug

I dunno I kinda like it but it takes a lot of code to make it work properly
