I've run across a few pages (including, but not limited to ozones.com) with an unusual script tag at the start:

<script src="http://a.a.b/dffs"></script><script src="http://a.a.a/dff"></script>

Does anyone know what this does? a.a.a and a.a.b aren't valid domains, so I know there's something tricky going on here.

I haven't seen that so far (and I've just checked ozones.com - nothing similar there)...

I'm looking at www.ozones.com/index.html (the Our Walls v1.0 page) in IE 5.5. It's the first line in the source, even before the <html> tag. I first noticed it a few weeks ago; I also saw it on www.hotwired.com. Actually, I'm going to go try to find a page *without* it; I'm going to be more than a little concerned if it's something on my machine adding it without my knowing. Thanks.

Oh, and your "Lies, damned lies, and statistics" quote is actually from Benjamin Disraeli, not Mark Twain.

Alright, I figured it out. It was, in fact, an application I had running in the background. Sorry for wasting your time, and thanks for helping me sort it out.
