Hey!

Not sure if this should be in here, or Stupid Basic, but figured what the heck... (please move it if need be)

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to fix the width of a '<select>' list, without using such "tricks" as 'value=.......................'
I already have a style applied to set the 'size' (only affects the height attribute though) and have wracked my brains trying to establish whether width can be set in this way (again - the usual suspects have been quizzed but I can only find mention of the size attribute).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

maybe try it with:

'value= &n bsp;&n bsp;&n bsp;&n bsp;&n bsp;'

(dont make a space between the n and the b like i did. this is just for the html-parser here)

That would kinda work, but would leave an empty element in the list.

I was hoping there's a format which leaves no 'null' values (cuz peoples is fick and will probably try to select te null).

That works in IE, but not in NN4 (in case you were hoping it did ).

That's because NS4 S U C K S.

Heh, I wouldn't worry about a minor display issue like this in NN 4 though.

As long as the Netscape 4 people can read the text, I'm satisfied

personally, i wouldn't worry about anything in NN4 - its junk. from all the stats for sites I've done, there are so few nn4 users (probably just jackasses seeing if the site will break in nn4 ). I think there should be a point where we move on, instead of trying to support stuff from the past (well waaaaay back in the past anyways ).

I suppose the only consolation is that it will never be viewed by NN4 - ever!
