Hey, guys! How's it going?

Well, I really need your advice about the way to learn Javascript and HTML. I am a silly student at the moment. I really want to be a web designer. So my lovely tutor told me to study handcoding Javascript and HTML. I wonder if you guys know any good book or web tutorial, would you please let me know.

OK. I am checking this site every couple of hours. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Cheers.

I'd suggest that you start with going through this place: http://www.gurusnetwork.com/tutorials/
You'll find ton's of good stuff there, the main thing is that these tutorials teach you a technique, not copy-paste. Most everything you need to get a grasp of is there except maybe basic HTML-coding.

To really get down to HTML from scratch, you can try this: http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Guide/
That's the start, there is also advanced HTML and basic CSS available at that same place.

My advice is to really learn HTML first of all, to be able to use javascript in a good way you need to know how HTML works since that's what you will manipulate.
Good luck and welcome back with any questions once you have tried a bit yourself.

If you have prior programming experience, check out JavaScript: The Definitive Guide, 4th edition ( www.oreilly.com ); that's how I learned it (actually, I learned from the 3rd edition).

I learned all the basics from www.webmonkey.com.

Edit: By the way, if your teacher said to hand-code, your teacher is my friend.
