Ok, in the interest of getting this back in gear, and since Izzay has asked for someone else to pick a topic, here it is.

I'm looking for good old fashioned comic book style action, or action film style stuff...you know? Muscles, weapons, explosions, scantily clad women, people getting whooped, jumping buildings, etc...

Let's see if we can revive this!

Ok, here's a quick one for starters, about 15 min. -

Not quite as "action-y" as I had wanted, but it's a start...

Kinda cheap. I always related action movie scenes with persecutions. Its usually a car following another car, or a big truck following a small motorcycle, but i was bored enuff to think a big assed skull following a random dude.

MG, what can i say, dude, you got mad skillz!

I really like it, reminds me of Ashley wood stuff, probably an inspiration?

I know this may be totally uncalled for, but with some minor tweaks, that could be a very good work. I think the skin tone (and other minor stuff) should be a bit less saturated, and possibly some stuff a bit more contrasted, like the mask of the guy (Michael Myers?), and a bit more of dirtiness. Here is a few skr00ing i did to exemplify a bit better what i mean (i like to work over other ppls work ;P). As i said, you got skills.

And now, another speedy of mine.

I dont think it is action-y that much, but i thought the hunting of the fly with the tongue would have had some 'action' in there. =P

Really great stuff, everyone.

CFB - I also agree with Emperor. Your technique and your style have really grown. Nice work.

DG - lovely. Would perhaps like to see a little more blood =)

Alevice - I do like the boost in contrast, but the desaturation is just too much...

Emperor - in most forums it's pretty much common practice to demonstrate your critique or suggestions by painting over the exisitng piece.

My, I never really meant it to look it really better, sicne i just throw 5 mins to it, and just to give some slight pointers. And what can i say about the desaturarion? Im just an ashley wood fan ;P

And just to explain what i more or less tried to attempt in mah 5 mins 'version' (I never calle dit as that =P) http://www.planbse.com/img/_news/pbluwong.jpg http://www.planbse.com/img/_news/pbalpha.jpg http://comx.host.sk/preview/popbot.jpg

Well, that actually some illustrations of him. If i ever find some Hellspawn pages (much more pencilwork in there, and closer to what I am trying to exemplify).

Anywayz, wether my 'version' was good or not, the dude with the cool work is still by DG. What does 'murky' means anyway?

You know whats hard about speed-paints, is that your mind wanders. I sit down and I'm going to do an "ACTION" SP, since that is the topic., yet when I sit there, stylus in hand, my mind think about all the non-ACTION topics.

Alevice: Thanks for the words

No Wood isn't really an inspiration for me. This was more Mignola, Sale and Jae Lee.

Your paintover (while fine to do, I suppose) seemed to make all the linework muddy and lose focus in all areas of intent, especially for motion. I enjoy the contrasts, but your light work, source structure etc. really needed help. I'm glad you felt free to try and put a spin on the work, but something severely got lost there, five minutes or not

cfb: Great work on this last one. I love the "propaganda poster" feel of it. Wonderful lines. The motion is good, the emotion is better. Work the dynamic lines a bit more to break the strength, but give good opposing curves. Nice nice

Good work folks.
