I found a couple programs that will let you look at your fonts... i think it's kind of pointless. Most of them don't work with any sort of pre-categorized list which would be nice instead of me spending a week making my own categories, and then when I'm picking fonts in Photoshop the fonts are still in alphabetical order... I'm curious if there's a program out there that will make the organization of th elist of fonts (in Photoshop for example) to appear in a categorized order.

hmmm... i grabbed one of the font managers from the :FAQ:
Fontlister was the one i downloaded. it's quite customizable and your fonts don't have to be installed to see them.

as far as how to change the way they are listed in programs.... i don't believe that you can...but obviously, i could be wrong.

No, you can't have that much control over a program... not any that i've ever used anywho... that would be like... WAY to useful man.

Companies need us to suffer so we'll better appreciate them when they release new versions.

you can make subfolders in "The Font Thing"...but they

Font Navigator from Bitstream

Despite all I'm told, I just can't help keeping several hundred fonts on my PC. Bitstream's Font Navigator 3.0 has proved itself to be an intuitive, and feature-filled font management system. Keep in mind that this is not a replacement for Adobe ATM; To use PostScript Type 1 fonts you MUST have ATM installed on your system. You use Font Navigator to install, classify, and manage your fonts instead of ATM. Its strength comes from a user-friendly interface, better support for drag-n-drop, automation, and loads of font reporting features.

I've been using this for several years. Works well imo. If you know anyone with corel draw it comes bundled with, i think it's, version 6 on.

I had the font thing. Tried it. Grouped some stuff. Like you were saying it doesn't manipulate the list in other applications. This Font Navigator looks very similar. I'm not familar with Adobe Type Manager (ATM). I've seen it over in the start bar at school but I never ran it to see what it did.
