That little rectangle that says "Hands On" at the bottom of the Asylum is a pretty good place.

Gurus Network is a pretty good place too.

Oh, and don't forget to RTFM.

I am kinda working backwards, i started off just playing the with settings and seeing what they and what effects they had on each other. Months and months went past and i was only slightly picking things up.

Eventually i realised that i couldnt avoid RTFM, so off i went, still dont know half the stuff that PS has to offer, but i know where to start if i am stuck.

You will also find this forum a god send for general banter and advice on various PS items, from the simple to the more advanced, just come and read, help and learn.

I'm willing to bet its one of those cases of "lol It didn't come with a manual... I got it off Kazaa" in which case the RTFM method doesn't work and it would be more like DBAFP as in don't be a fuckin pirate.

<quincy>Note closely the phrasing:

quote:
I installed Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Someone who had just spent hundreds of dollars of two expensive pieces of software would probably have emphasised that fact first (as they would have still been smarting from abuse to the wallet)</quincy>

I think the Janee tutorials are good for beginners - http://myjanee.home.insightbb.com/tutorials.htm, and the Guru's Network, Hands on tutorials for people who have some basic Photoshop knowledge.

Yeah, the way binary phrased that also made me suspicious of piracy. But let's not get into that. Don't ask, don't tell...

I think the best way to learn PS is to just play around with it, mess with the settings and so forth. Tutorials can help you learn specific techniques, but you shouldn't rely on them too much. Learn from their techniques, and develop your own.

I had the idea that I could police piracy by reporting people for a bit but its so difficult to report an individual on the internet that its pretty much useless... although they do seem to use the RIAA's tactics of going after the distributors...

I have to agree on the learning of it though... play with the filters... realize that they're just eye candy... then start trying to do something with them and with some work to create...

I think we should all realise that it's something that

1. We really can't do anything about in our present time and situation; and

2. It's not really our place to do something about anyway.

And leave it at that...unless someone publicly comes out and violates the board rules by linking to warez or asking for serials or whatever, speculate about whether or not they legally own the software in your own heads, or over AIM, MSN or the Q, or over email...but not on the board. It's a subject to be left alone unless it's being debated or some such.

OK topic started here, if you feel the need to discuss this matter, discuss it there, and not here.

Thanks
