I came across this tutorial at Yaxay.com
http://tutorials.yaxay.com/showtutorial.php?action=show&id=8

I can get through the tutorial fine but at the bottom of the tutorial is this really awesome variation of the supernova effect. I tried and tried but I cant get the shear effects/settings or the general shape of it right.

If anyone manages to come close to getting a supernova like the one in the image at the bottom of the tutorial, could you please tell me how?

Thanks a lot, im just starting out.

sadjar: Welcome. Perhaps if you post the image you currently have we can provided tips on how to improve it. Their description:

quote:
I made this mockup splash using the supernova effect. I started by doing a long thin circle rather than a round one then I got the waves by going Filter>Distort>Shear, and then rotating the image and repeating this until I was happy with the shape. Cool ?

Suggests you shoul keep playing and see what you come up with.

Well....it seems, as Emperor pointed out, that he tells you exactly how he did it

What you need to do, if that's the type of image you want to make, is to play around with the settings he mentioned until you get something satisfactory.

Tutorials are fine and dandy, but you'll never learn anything if you don't experiment on your own.
