tutorial for logo design?

A logo is not a logo is not a logo man, there are all kinds. Everybody's is different... And If you are a beginner, why not start with the basics, get a firm grip on them, a firm grip on PS, and then you will beable to make any bloody thing you can think of...

So with that said, No. I dont have a tutorial for a logo. I can point you to something better...

Go to the links at the bottom of the page... handson.nu is really awesome for starters. then go to Gurus... lotsa wealth there. That should give you a jump start.

Also poke around the FAQ here, lotsa good stuff in it concerning 2d graphics.

Welcome, hope you are have fun with Photoshop CS. It's werid, I actually just got PSP 6, just for kicks. Actually I need it's tubes for a project I was working on.

As for logos, I hate to be a kill joy. But typically the best logo's are very simple in nature and most are often prepared in a vector application like Illustrator or Freehand. That way it remains resolution independed and can be retargeted for as many uses as possiable. Ie. Web, Print, Video, etc....

If the logo is created in Photoshop keep in mind you will only be able to enlarge it ruffly by 150% depending artwork. After which pixelation starts to become noticable. With this in mind create your logos at the largest projected size, also try to keep an text in text layers as long as possable so you can rescale with out quality loss.

I am intrested in you option on Photoshop CS. I am going to order my CS Premium Edition upgrade on Monday, but I suppect It will not come some weeks due to Christmas and New Years.
