anyone know how to go about making a brain, or a brain texture. I'm not looking for something already made, I'm looking for the technique so I can change it how I want. I don't know where to start though

Well I made one recently, I needed a 2D texture to mapp on a ruff half brain 3D model , the texture was used as a displacement map. The problem I had was the photo's I found were to detailed or not lighted suitable for creation of a displacement map. An I was having trouble creating decent folds in photoshop. It alwasy seem to look to perfect, and unatural.

What I did was to locate linework image of a brain, Printed it out and then Applied clay cylinders directly to the print out, matching the folds on the print out. I then tossed it back on the scanner, and scan it in and use the resulting image as displacement map. Work well, thou I only need to create half a brain.

Sometimes the computer or software is not the answer, think outside the box and grab some clay.
