I read some things on htaccess but I can't figure it out..doesn't work seems to ignore the htacess file...

does your host allow it? some do not. http://httpd.apache.org/docs/howto/htaccess.html

Hi,
if htaccess is being ignored check you you have called it .(dot)htaccess.
If you have php on your server then there are a few easy scripts that will password protect a folder.....cloverpass for one.
