People often ask how to get into the gaming industry and one newish route is designing games for mobile devices (mahjqa is already involved). One interesting development is Wireless Java which will allow people to develop games for mobiles. At the moment on the Nokia 7650 supports it but the Motorola T720 is out next month followed by Sony Ericsson's T300 by Xmas with things really taking of by next Xmas (so at the moment it won't bring in much money but starting now could leave you ahead of the game when things really take off). Like the early days of the ZX Spectrum (for us Brits) it is a low development cost entry into the gaming market which can be done with a small team.

Mophun is a Java engine for mobile devices (you can develop for it and then they will market the good ones):

some quick links I dug up:

Anyway I thought I'd pass that on - anyone got any thoughts/ideas on the matter?
