Doing a revamp of a site for a friend. It's a music school and they want some stuff about the instructors, schedule of events, blah blah blah.

Anyway, check out the mock up here

Not too sure I like the top part but.....

Thanks in advance.

The websites alright.

I like how its quick loading and easy to navigate. What I don't like is how plain it looks. You can stand to add additional colors and photographs into the website.

In line with what Jestah said, you might look into adding a highlight color. Right now everything is purple, and I think that tends to wear thin after a while (especially with that huge swath of purple at the top... you definitely need to do something about that). Possibly look into something yellow, or maybe green? I dunno--play around with some colors and see what you can come up with. I think you do need something to break up the purpleness of it all.

hmmm....ok cool. So not much other than the lack of more colors so far. Cool.

Gonna play around with Zox's color wizard to see what comes up.

I'll post an update as soon as I find more colors.

Thanks so far.....

Not much to add, but one of the first thing that jumped out was the bevel on the menu bar. It looks, well, cheap -- like someone though "I don't know what to do with this part, ay, this filter will do".

Have a think about why you want the menu to stand out (maybe just a plain purple background would work better), what parts of it should stand out and why (highlight the whole bar, of just the menu options), and then find a way to make it stand out without it being too obvious that you've just wacked some filter on it. In simpler terms, make it look like it belongs there as opposed to looking like an afterthought -- the same goes for the "contact us" bit, just looks too out-of-place to me.

Futhermore, you're using different heading fonts and odd sizes, one for the header image, another for the quite and another really huge one for the content title. With such a plain and simple site I really think this is too much and it creates visual confusion as it doesn't convey any kind of order to guide the user about your page.

It's a nice start thought.

some really good point there Dracusis. Thanks.

Well not really but I guess it could look that way. Actually there are no filters at all on it. Just feathering and painting. But, I guess it does look a little out of place.

Good points about the many fonts. Reworking has already taken place. Thanks for the comments. Please continue
