ok after some time i decided ti leave this site behind. http://ks440.tripod.com and go on to a new one http://ks440.tripod.com/Vision2.html

plzz give a full review on my work. I want and need comments from the point of art and graphics as well as coding. Looks like i didt use any stylesheet or CSS cause i dont have the knowledge yet. And view source and look at my coding . It is really crap and lots of misuse of codes, i know. I need help in fixing these.

Tell me overall how my site layout looks and any ideas or criticize is welcomed ! Thank you ! This seems to be the secong new topic i ahve posted here . Hooray for me .

I need some help on the links coding. I want the links to change the contents of the center section . And look at all the br and &nbsp tag i use . Isnt it lame . Overall i want the main opinion on the site, a full review and definitely a way to make my coding better !

dyZ440: I'm off home now but a couple of quick thoughts:

1. Its not clear if those black spaces are intentional - are they?

2. You don't need to use line breaks <BR> in the way you have as the text will wrap naturally inside that table cell anyway.

3. You should use CSS to get rid of the FONT tags. If you aren't sure about it I can drop the code in to sort that out.

4. Its too wide - your main table is set to 1024 pixels and you should change that to 100%.

5. I like the background but I'm not sure about the title graphic.

6. Fill in places hwere it says 'put stuff in here' and fill in the TITLE tags.

Its a start and we should be able to tweak what you have to make it look much better. I'll throw some other ideas in.

Take on board what emp says about the code!!

Layout: Is nice and simple, easy to see where your going to put all your links (I hope in the left hand column). I was you I would make the text warp, so the text fills the space where it is.

Graphics: Now I love the button headers (Main, games, ECT) graphics. Did you make them yourself? If you did I would make the top graphic in the same style of the button headers. Now the top graphic I think it's a bit crap (sorry about that but it is), The text is ok but why have it messed up with the white bit by the blue?, make a load of them based around you site and pick one that fits (or just post them here and we'll tell you which fits. Why make it 1024 px wide? make it about 580 wide then make a cut off the end of it where it will be duplicated. I mean by this that the right hand side of the graphic could be duplicated for the site to be liquid type. What?s with the POTD image (yea I know its off CS), but why is it there?. The text background image is a bit big (230KB), optimise it.

Browser check:

IE 6 = Fine
NS 4 = Fine
NS 6 = Fine
Opera = Fine

Overall: A good start but you need to look at the top graphic more and optimise the text background image (just kills a 56K modem). But still good work hope to see more on this

The black space between the Vision on the top and the background text isnt intentional. Couldnt make it go away even with cellpading=0 and cellspacing=0 .The balck spaces after every button header (Main, games etc) is intentional. I will have a brief text linking to everday news under each section.Though the one under main is larger than the rest. Why is that so ??

Ok i wont use <br> anymore. The reason i used br is cause i didnt realise i could separate the background image into and use two td to place them so that i can have to 2 columns as the text. I feel that text that goes all the way from left to right is a strain to the eyes, so i break them into 2 columns to make it easier for reading just like what they for newspapers.

OK CSS i know. Just didnt use it yet. It should go under <style> right? With all the a:link and bla bla ? Am i right?

Ok table width will be set at 100%.

Looks like the 1st 2 reviewers of my site didnt like the Vision title graphic. Hope for more opinion on this. Adding some pictures to it will make it better ? Or change the entire title graphic ? Is the blue bar with broken lines around ok , just the word vision is bad or the entire title graphic sucks ? Those button header(the grey ones with Main etc were done by me in photoshop) .

Darkshadow you think ishould use that for the title graphic ? I dont get it ? How ?? Replace the entire graphic title or just the word vision ? I still have the psd file on my pc can edit anytime. Explain more here .

Put stuff in here? What do you mean? You mean i should fill up the empty areas ?? Oh i dont have enough content yet ;P. Ok i did ignore the title tag. Will put something there .

Err is the background image size too big ? I dont know as i am a 56k User and it didnt take much time to load the site . After changing the iamge to gif format the iamge had already lose some quality. To optimise more will mean lower quality ?? Any link or can masters here briefly guide and teeach me to optimise the image ?

No changes will be done yet to my site. I will jot down all the ideas i have and i hope for more opinion. Then only after getting all the important changes to do only i will start changing. Thnx for the help and i am welcoming more opinion and help !

Lastly, if i wanted to use dhtml on this site how would i do it ?

I was just suggesting ideas for the top graphic, You can do what you like but I don't think that top graphic is good with the white bits around the blue parts.

Well this type of page can be easily an liquid type page, meaning it will fit or fill the whole browser window, what ever the size, See here for what I mean, see that top bar, it is an image duplicated in the table so it fits to what ever size your browser is.

Get what I mean? if not I just talking about that this type of page could be liquid, meaning filling the browser window, what ever the size.

Now the background image could be smaller, I found that with your image as a Jpeg I could get it to about 60K in size with out that much loss of quality. Now I did the same optimising for a GIF and got it to about 150K in size. I don?t understand why a gif is bigger than a Jpeg I thought it was meant to be the other way around. So try it or I can send you my optimise image to you (I would upload them be brinkster is F*^king sh*t and I always go a time out or some error from them), IF not I will try again later to upload them for you.
