Ok, my site was designed mostly for a 800/600 screen resolution... It don't look too bad at 1024/768, but I want to try to make it more compatable on resolutions of 1024/768 and higher.

Go to my site with a 800/600 resolution, then try it at say 1152/864 or higher....
you should notice the backgrond starts doing the "tile thing"....Should I even worry about screen resolutions that big?? I would also love comments on making the other aspects of the site better too, but as always all comments are greatly appreciated...

I work on the computer for hours and that bright whtie with the black script hurts my eyes..
There are other shades of white than #000000.. and ink is blue.. magazines are bright, glossy
but they are to be glanced at, keep the eyes moving to the next ad, but a book or anything meant
to be read is yellower paper or greyer paper with blue ink.. ink is blue although I use black letters if the white is low glare.. even a very light blue "paper " or lightly textured is fine, anything that is non-glare.

I'm no expert... but it does seem a bit on the bright/white side of things.

Also I'm not sure about the only navigation being at the bottom of the page. It's not tht you can miss it... but you almost can.... know what I mean. And I think if you're offering 'services' you can perhaps be a little more forward about it without being garish.

I *do* like your links page.

My 2cents... Look out for the heavyweights. <vbg>

Synthetic: QUick thoughts:

1. To stop the background tiling use CSS: background-repeat: none; (thats without checking but it looks right).

2. I would agree with the others that black and white like that creates a pretty harsh contrast and I'd probably tone things down a little and draw the colours closer together.

3. That welcome graphic is distinctly blurry too.

4. Frames eh? I know it gives the effect you want but I still don't approve - and if you are going to use them put something in the NOFRAMES tag.

5. I'm not sure why you need a date there - people often put in date scripts because they can but its really only news sites (and others I'm sure) which could justify it.

6. I'm not sure why the bottom frame reloads everytime (spoils the point rather).

7. You have switched the scroll bars off but in anything below 800x600 this makes sections of your page inaccessible (switch them on and use body {overflow: auto } to switch them off again - doesn't work in all browsers though).

8. Add some content - you are using quite a restrictive design and I'd like to see how it works when there is a lot of material in there.

Its not an approach I'd take but it can be made to work. It needs a few tweaks to it looking better and it needs content so we can see how its going to work but it is a good start you can develop from.

It works in N6 and O6...an achievement, although O6 kills the date text. Shoves it right and ignores formatting.

However, Emp is right: something needs to be done witht the br image. Think maybe about placing the image in it's own #layer {float : left; width : 100%; background-image : no-repeat; margin-top : auto; margin-bottom : auto; height : auto; border-top : 1px solid [color]; border-bottom : 1px solid [color]} If it doesn't show up, give it a z-index greater than 0.

If I haven't overthought something this simple, your image will be centered vertically and confined to its borders.
