Hi again..
I just put up a little site I've thrown together. Right away I'd like to say that the code (javascript especially) is a real mess and VERY redundant. There are a lot of problems with the entire design of this site, but I thought I'd try to build it anyways. it uses tons of layers and only one html file. Basically, I just wanted to try some stuff with sliding layers around using javascript.

I don't really want a full review for this or anything, just wanted to see what you think... go ahead, tear it apart!

here it is.. Syncromess

Lurch: You could do with some work on that splash page graphic as it is cut off at the sites in a very unsymmetrical (is that a word?) manner. As you don't want a full review I'd say that it works nicely (in both IE6 and Op6 on Windows) although the scrolling across effect is so slow on this computer I'd probably give up before it got anywhere (if pos. I'd speed it up - have a look a Ducati's work on scrolling for nice examples - a quick search should bring up the goodies there).

I'm pondering whether the pop up is justified and I suspect it is as the effect you are aiming for wouldn't work without it - although you should ask yourself if you want the effect at all. I'd be concerned that the idea isn't very flexible and you'd be pressed to add very much more content with the whole design needing an overhaul (and to be honest there isn't much content there at the moment).

I'd also remove the IE6 image bars (see a post by Dark somewhere) as these are distracting on the splash page.

Nice and simple graphics - although I'd have the whole of the scrolling window surrounded by that smooth border (there appears to be some odd overlap in the top left hand corner which needs to be addressed).

Anyway a nice simple design I just wonder if it is flexible enough to allow growth. The speed of the scroll also needs fixing (and there are plenty of people in the DHTML forum who can help you on that front).

Thanks Emps,

Thats one of the reasons I really don't like the site.. it isn't flexible at all. Also, as you say the splash page is... well.. I confess, I just threw that together to pop up the window. I don't really see any reason to go through with too many fixes on this site, as it is not practicle at all. I'll try to speed up the scrolling though. and maybe some other stuff. thanks for takin a look
