Preserved Topic: Home networking (Page 1 of 1)

This is more of a "Would this be OK?" type question.

I have on my PC at home Apache and Perl and all that good stuff so I can test Perl and PHP scripts and stuff. works Great! (I use Firepages, thanks to mr.maX).

However, I have a computer that I put a new hard drive in and motherboard and some more memory and I would like to set it up with the Apache stuff (Firepages) and network my PC up to it.

I am running Win98 on both machines. The Apache works fine right now but I would like to network them. So my question is. . . "What do you think about doing this?"

I know that running WinNT or XP Pro would probably be better but I have had good luck running 98 with Apache.

Any thoughts?

I don't see any major problems with networking the two machines and accessing apache from the other.
Just make sure you read some good tut on it, if you're unfamiliary with local IPs and related things.

Thanks, I think I can handle it though. With the local IP and things.

If not I can get in touch with my fiancee's brother. He used to be a network admin. I just hate to have to ask him too many questions. He's kind of a pompous jackass that way.

Abnout doing home networks...you cna find almost anything you're looking for over at http://www.homepclan.com

good site...that's where I got the info to do my first network from.
