blah blah blah. Stupid thing didn't post cuz I forgot my pass word and then the..... ok n/m. Well anyway this is a hair tut from another place and it isn't written by me. Thought that you guys might find it interesting and just decided to share it with you guys. May help some such as human shield or the crazy psycho guy who wanted to make a wolf for his psycho school Anyway, enough talk here it is.

1) Here we pick a nice colour to work with. I usually take a slightly cold one, that way I get to add the warmer colours as highlights and shadows and still managing to make the hair look natural. Well. This is just a bit of hair that won´t really fit unto any head I´m afraid. Just did this to show you how I work.
2) Some very general lines in black here (separate layer) just to give a feel of where the locks will fall. Important that the lines are gentle and seem "natural" in how they fall.
3) I usually begin to add some different tones here. Mark the warmer colours! Some very basic highlights by using discreet, warm colours applied to some of the locks. I also begin adding shadows here, darkening some areas.
4) Continuing to work with the colours here... there are many different reflections in a hair, a myriad of different hues of the same colours.
5) So far I´ve worked with the airbrush and a "hard" brush, not the soft edged one. Here, though, I pick the smudge tool and a soft brush, rather big in size, and begin to smudge the lines a little, in some places smearing out small "strands" of hair into the heavy lumpy locks you can see here. I also remove the layer of the "sketch" I put on the picture in step two.
6) Continuing on step five, I slowly smudge the edges to make them soft, and begin making the colours "flow" together more beautifully.
7) Here I work on the structure of the hair. To get rid of the feel of heavy and unnatural lumps of hair, I take a soft brush and the airbrush (I almost always use the airbrush) and paint gentle, rather wide but soft, lines going through the locks. I use the eyedropper tool to make sure I get the right colours all the time.
8) Here´s the smudge tool again, drawing out the lines I painted in step eight. I also use the airbrush and put in some deeper variation in the colours.
9) Finishing the image, I usually make sure that some separate strands can be seen, and that I work over almost the entire hair with a very small smudge brush to give a real feeling of /hair/.

Very nice.....but one question...........WHERE is the tut that U used to create it??????? I have tried this and can not quite get it right.

The tutorials at the top where it has the numbered steps. At first just try to follow along with the picture and eventually you'll get there. Good luck!

I'm trying to reproduce your beauty, but with no luck. Could you please give some more tips about which brushes I should use to create the base (first 3, 4 steps)?
I can't even get the black from step 2! Desperate me...
Also, after the smudging, how do you get those clear lines which you see in step 8 and 9?

Don't smudge that much. Yours looks like a painting.

I tried to better my picture, but I am having some problems with shading and making the hair fall the right way. I'm using a mouse, does a tablet have much advantages in this situation?

Well... to tell you the truth, like I said before, I didn't write the tutorial nor make the picture, so it's hard for me to recommend what to do or not. First off, yes the tablet does indeed provide a lot of control.... it's kind of like drawing with a mouse .or drawing with a pencil. But, of course this effect is achievable with a mouse as well. One thing that needs to be done is try to use a smaller brush and also don't smudge so much. By smudging, it's only mixing in all the color and suggesting the way the hair flows. Most of it, in the end result, if you look at it, are just wavy strands of one color. To the eye, it all comes together and sends signals that say "hair" Yah, so if your actually trying this tut, just use smaller brushes also what might help is don't fiddle with layers and what not. This should be all done on the same layer. Anyway, some of the colors your choosing are a bit .... murky. For now, just use the eyedropper and extract the colors from the tut pic. Good luck!
