Just thought i'd update u on my attempts to update a 60 yr old picture. The first like is the original. The second is "u guessed it" the restored version, I have a lil touch ups to fix. just minor details. |

Not a bad start, not bad at all. You are really moving along there. I don't think you'll ever get the texture to quite match up, but I do think that it can be quite a bit cleaner. A lot of the dust and grime is still on there. If you have fun doing this, you should try your hand at restoring some glass photos, which would be older then the one you're currently working on. |

Well seeing as it is such a LARGE pic, working on the full size was to laggy for me, so i copied out the most damage sections and worked on them in smalled files to speed things up. I used the Clone Stamp Toll for 90% of the work. I did a lil airbrushing for areas that needed to be ligher or darker. and thats about it, i just tokk my time and was patient. |

To restore the thing to mint condition you'll have to remove the dirt from the 'high spots' on the paper's texture and that more than likely (to me) would mean removing the texture completely, until you get the photo right as rain, then reapply the texture later, or leave it out altogether. You've got a good thing going with all the hand work, after you finish it up you may wanna start jacking with many layers, tools under image>adjust and blending modes. Looks pretty good so far. |
