www.sprint.bantu.com offered, some time ago, access to a similiar app, which could contact to ICQ, AIM, YIM and MSN, all from the web. They discontinued their free service though.

GnomeICU has the same kind of feature, it stores the contact list online so won't have to add them manually each time you install it...

On Windows I use Trillian and I'm happy with it so far. You can use all off the 'standard' IM's through it; ICQ, AIM, YIM and MSN.

I've only used MSN messenger before, and that was not very often. So I decided to give it a go
I've just downloaded it now for a few trial runs I'll put my ICQ number up in my profile.

I use trillian too....
However Trillian v0.74 freeware hasn't been really updated for like 6 month now...
